Review the attached picture and see if I’m just overthinking the oil pressure being low. This is a new to me truck, and want to be sure it’s running the way it should since my 2006 obviously wasn’t this fancy.

Thank you!

Hot idle, that looks fine.

Mine is 39-40 at hot idle and will hit a little over 50 while driving. That's with the Pacbrake remote oil filter housing, it lost a little max PSI but nothing at idle. Also 5w30.

That looks fine to me. . If you are running down the road at 70 mph then it’s a bit on the low side.
It runs about the same consistently. I haven’t done my first oil change on it yet but it’s only been about 2k since it was changed last. Previous owner said he used full synthetic. So maybe it’s just due for a change. I just didn’t want to run into engine/lifter/cam issues that destroyed my 2006 Ram and forced me to sell it and get this new to me truck

This is running 5W20 full synthetic. I’ve heard of people swapping oil pumps to increase pressure but I wanted to ask if I even needed to worry before burying myself in another project.

See, mines never shown near 50 so I was worried I had issues or was about to have issues
Change to 5W-30 and a good quality filter.Redline 5W-30 still seems tp have the best rep,but you can add Lubegards Bio-tech engine oil protectent to something like Pennzoil Ultra Platinium and create a poor mans Redline. If you can find a Royal Purple filter 20-820 it's a good filter, the other filter these days with a good rep is Frams FE2 available through Walmart

Changing viscosity won’t throw a code?

I am running 5w-30. Going back to the recommended 5w20 or whatever is recommended on the fill tube. Fixing to install the pacbrake mod this oil change and I’ll probably not change oil till after the mod so I can document the difference.

OP, don't know what year your truck is but with 193k on the clock, your pressure is normal. Moving to 5w30 will get you a few more PSI, upping the idle to 750 will get you into the higher 40s. No need to change the oil pump.

Check out the note at the bottom. This was in the big 700 page printed manuals and the big online manual up till 17,then supposedly they had to remove it,because the trucks apparently wouldn't match the claimed milege numbers.

In a word, no. I have a 2014 Laramie, 5.7L.
Was using Pennz Ultra Plat (PUP) 5w-20 until last OCI at around 109,000 miles.
Switched to Red Line 5w-30 and an oversize filter. My oil pressure ranges from a low of ~44psi to a high of ~67psi. Engine has never been so quiet.

The Red Line and oversize filter increased my oil pressure by more than 10psi, but you should know that Red Line's viscosity is a bit higher than many other oils.
IIRC PUP 5w-30 is around 9 - 10 cSt @ 100c and the Red Line is a hair over 12,
at least according to Blackstone.

Sorry, I’m not sure why my signature isn’t showing up but it’s a 2015 Laramie 4x4

What oversized filters are you referring to?

He's likely referring to the larger diameter filters that were OEM on the older 2009-2012 trucks, before EPS.

Like the Mopar 899 oil filter. When I use it, my oil pressure is about 6-8 psi higher than the small filters at pretty much all RPMs.

The Mopar 899 filter on Amazon.

Yes, as @Ken226 posted, there are several "oversize" filters that are a perfect fit
for the threads and gasket on our 5.7L engines.

Fram makes 2 that have tested very well and are often mentioned here.
I am currently using a Purolator Boss PBL-24651 filter but I have several Royal
Purple 20-820 filters waiting in my garage and I'll be going back to that.

As for the difference, see pics. *Note* this pic is from a couple years ago and the Purolator filter shown is the stock/standard type filter, not the 24652 I posted about. The PBL-24651 is the same size as the rest of the "oversize" filters. Some of the latest reviews on Purolator Boss are a little mixed. The R.P. and better Fram filters seem to be testing consistently. Probably one of the greatest tie-breakers in deciding on a filter is availability. The Fram filters are often found at your local Walmart

@DeputyChef22 -

Afterthought: generally speaking and in head-to-head testing, a spun glass oil filter designed for synthetic applications will out-perform a pleated paper filter.
All Mopar filters are pleated paper, and the R.P., P.B., and specific Fram filters mentioned in this thread are spun glass.

When I was getting my oil changes from my local Ram dealer they were using the small pleated paper Mopar filter. And I was getting a little concerned that the oil in my engine was a solid coal black just 500 miles after an oil change. Here I am now, a year later and after following the recommendations found here on this forum my oil is more like a medium brown at over 4,000 miles. I feel a little better about waiting for 5,000 miles to do the next oil/filter change, I seem to be headed in the right direction.
