In this pic,the middle hole at 3:00 is hot pressure side fluid from transmission, bottom hole at 9:00 is hot pressure side fluid fed to heat exchanger, the upper hole at 6:00 is the hot pressure side fluid feed to the cooler in the top of the A/C condensor.Thermostat is always installed on the hot side of the liquid/fluid you're trying to regulate, never on the cold side.Everything in this photo is on the out pressure side feed from the trannies internal pump, and is in the hot side of the fluid, which is what feeds to the exchanger to either have the heat in the fluid increased by the coolant,or is fed to the cooler to have the heat in the fluid decreased, nothing in this photo is a return,it's all a pressurized "out" feed on this side

Hi guys, new here. I have a 2014 ram 1500 4x4 with 144k and just started having high tranny temp issues and found this thread. Anyone have a link for Caulks amazing invention and a video on how they installed it? Not your typical gear head, but can follow a step by step process. Also have this mishimoto thermal bypass a friend said should work. Should I try this, or do Caulks invention? Thanks in advance!

I'm sold on Jesse's thermal bypass kit.

Here is the information.

The bypass is $45 or the bundle deal for $80 includes an aluminum cap to replace the OE plastic POS cap.

And this is the thread on the topic.

Search YouTube for Jesse Caulk's ZF thermal bypass installation or scan the end of the thread above. I'm sure you will find an instructional video.

I will look on my PC tomorrow. I'm using the stupid phone ATM.

@RamDiver thank you so much! Got it ordered, and thank you @caulk04 for being a genius! Can't wait to try it out!
I'm assuming you have the 8 speed with the knob shifter,as the Mishimoto bypass you posted is for the 6 speed trucks, and wouldn't work on an 8 speed equipped truck

I figured. Any 6 speed diesel want a mishimoto?! Lol I passed the 14 days to be able to return it. Also, just got it installed, and it is working like a charm. Is there any specific temp I should not drive it under? Just curious.

When it's -20+ take it easy till you get some heat in the tranny,no differant then if you were driving an older Hemi with the non-thermostatically controlled RFE transmission. Automatic transmissions survived for many years without a thermostat or coolant heaters ;)
