So while washing and detailing truck other day I noticed my driver side rocker panels paint is starting to bubble in some spots. White 2013 ram 1500 5.7l 110,000 miles. I live in PA so salt roads all winter to say the least haha. But other than that rest of truck is in great condition. Gets fluid filmed which has kept it rust free but looking underneath I notice the holes on inside rocker are all tapped off but one and wouldn’t you know it that’s right where the outer rocker is starting to bubble under the paint. So what would any of you suggest? Should I strip down affected area prep sand and repaint and spray some fluid filmed in the rocker and tape the hole shut or is it better to just have the rocker replaced and start over? Yes photo was taken before cleaning the truck hahaimage.jpg

Try a google search with the search string: "site:www.ramforum.com rocker panel rust". It should give you some decent info.

The good news is that Ram 1500 don't appear to have the foam filler in the Rockers that Chrysler uses on many of their vehicles.

The bad news is that their appears to be an Interior panel (2-piece). Not sure if you can get a good coating of FF from the back side. You may need to drill holes from the ends/bottom.

Either way, those rockers are already pretty bad. Up to you if you want to make/weld your own patch or replace the panel.
