Hey everyone I've got a 2016 Ram 1500 slt quad can.
Recently I put 20x12 rims and 33" Toyo Open Country RT tires on my truck. I love the stance and the look. I've got about 1500 moles on them now. I've noticed 2 things
1. the tires do have a slight bounce? To them crusing. You can feel the truck vibrating slightly at 70 mph. While they are quiet they are definitely not smooth. I bought these cause everyone recommend them online due to Highway ride quality. While the small vibration/ bounce really doesn't bother me that much would be nice to be smooth. Should I rebalance?
2. When ever I hit a bump in the road especially of its only on one side it definitely kicks the truck sideways especially at highway speeds. I am trying to figure out if this is related to the bigger and heavier tires. While I know a wider more aggressive tire will grab the road more I feel like it's excessive at times... should I get new shocks? Would it actually help though? I don't want to lift the truck because I barely fit in parking garages now and it is

I dont have those tires on mine, but did have the same vibration at highway speeds. I had a road force balance performed for about 35 bucks and it fixed it. I have Hankook dynapro atm's.

How much air pressure is in your tires? If they're set at max, it's not necessary cause of how stiff the sidewalls are on these types of tires.

I've got those same tires on my truck but haven't noticed any discernible bounce or vibration yet. I'm running around 36 psi (cold) in each tire. My old Toyota used to grab and pull itself all over the road lol but so far this truck is pretty stable even with the larger/wider tires

33x12.5's on 20x10 -25 rims

I'm running 45 psi. Maybe I will try and lower then down to 36 or so and see if that helps

Are they LT tires? Most P rated tires have a max PSI of 44. Try dropping it down to 40PSI. I run my Cooper AT3s at 41 and the truck rides as nice as the stock Goodyears.

Could totally be unrelated, but when I had my Sierra (pardon my French) I had some eerily similar issues as you when I put new wheel and tires on it.
I had a steering wobble at higher speeds, and the frost heaves (permafrost that damages the highways and makes veins in the asphalt) would cause my truck to almost feel like it was rolling on a wave and got pushed to the side)

I just dealt with it for a while but got progressively worse but never noticed until the new tires and thought it was a balancing issue. I took it in and the tires were balanced just fine, but my tie rod ends, idler arm, and ball joints were all shot. Not sure from what, but the techs seemed to think that my last alignment had not had the points all tight and just got worse from there.
I got all the work done and truck drove good as new.... so i turned around and sold that old 2004 Sierra with 98k miles for $14k :waytogo:

Again, could be a totally different issue but should give you a second avenue to check out if nothing else.

I've never had those tires but to your 2nd point..
I have the same issue and I think it's because of the sway bar in these trucks. My truck will kick sideways often on small bumps and one that I drive over between 30-45 mph a few times a week. I know it's coming so I slow down but the truck will still kick over a bit. There have been a couple times on pot holes or when the county fills in pot holes but leaves a bump and hitting it at 55-60 mph will really get your attention! It's not safe and if there happened to be an icy spot you could be in real danger.

I'm having the same problem with my new tires too. I'm starting to think that it might be the shocks also. I have about 36k on a '13 QCSB.

Could possibly not be balanced correctly. Have had no problems with my 35x12.5 AT. Dont know how much a difference is between them and the RT though

Same issue in my 2015 ram with 20x10 -18 offset with 33"x12" waiting to get em swapped out . Doesn't seem.right .. almost like the rear end is shimmying at highway speeds 55 and 70 -75 esp . Spent over $300 balancing /road force balancing and having stock rims and tires back on it only to have the symptoms disappear . Def something to do with rims and tires . Will update post on what supplier does for me and if it is fixed assuming I get new set sent to me . Fingers crossed

I spoke with customwheeloffsets and they will reimburst me for a new balance. i am going to do that this morning and then ive got a nice long roadtrip to see if its fixed or not. I may have to see if they can be returned if i truly can not get them balanced and smooth ride.

This was my issue also on my 4 in+2.1 bilstein Ram. I changed to the hellwig rear sway with 3 adjustment settings. Put it in the middle. and Now I am GTG, no complaints.

I'm having a similar issue. I have Falken's and a Bil's lift on my truck. The front is fine, but the rear seems over sensitive to every road variation and then theirs the balance issue. It feels like a severe balance problem. You can feel it in the seat, see it if you have water in the truck. I've had the tires balanced twice now, same thing. Going back to the place I bought them this week. I don't know if it's a tire defect or what. But, I do not like this constant vibration in the truck. It's annoying.

Same issue with mine . Had tires replaced with nittos. Same issue.. I found my hub rings weren't tight around the hub.... I made them tight with electrical tape along the inside ... made them tight. Also used star pattern on lugs and tightened them with torque wrench to 100lb ... seemed to make a big difference. . Ordered new hub rings .

Not familiar with this...doing some research leads me to think they mount on the wheel hub some way? Secondly, why would this be an issue with only tire replacements? I'm still using the sport wheels. Are these like a spacer from the rim to the hub? Its just the rear thats doing it. If for some reason this is the issue, where can I get these from? Normal auto store?

EDIT--Watching youtube on this, now I can see what this does.

If u haven't changed the rims only the tires then it shouldn't be an issue then.
