Alright, This is my first DIY/How To post, don't beat me up too bad. First Wade sent me a Large Phone Holder. Which is totally kick ass. I had a Pana-Vise lying around from an old car. So I was trying to figure out where to mount it. I decided on the deep hole that would sit right above the 115VAC outlet on most trucks, but mine doesn't have it yet...... Here are the pictures. I used 3M tape to mount the Pana-Vise to the truck and the holder. It works great because it is right above the outlet so I can charge my phone as well!

Not really, its almost perfect for my reach. Plus, I just wanted it to be able to use my GPS on my phone and have it at a glance.

Lol you guys and your phone holders.. My truck has one built in already, and it doubles as a cup holder. :)

Anyways, good initiative/idea, but just don't put too much faith in that 3m attatched to the plastic inside.. I tried something like that and ended up going with screws for my spod mount.

Thanks. I will probably adjust this as I get more used to having it in the vehicle. This is round 1 of Modification. LoL, I am always changing things, which is why the 3M tape. I will wait till I get my HF Ham Radio set up installed, then move things around as required.

You should mount that higher if you want to use GPS and not crash.

I put my iOttie mount in the same place. Even hard wired the power supply in behind the accessory plug and routed the cord up through the little tray above the radio.
Works great and everything is out of the way.

Sure thing. I hate the wires everywhere also. I didn't take pictures of it when I did it, but I will post back with what I can, just give me a day or two.

Here's some pictures of my iOttie wireless Qi charger without taking the dash apart (no time right now).

Some notes:
- Basically I carefully split open the car charger's plug and soldered (2) 8" wires (pos & neg) on to the board inside and routed them out through the front pin that I removed from the charger (removed the outer neg pins also) and crazy glued the charger back together. Then terminated them with male & female quick disconnects (for polarity).

* it is possible to get a corded socket with 2 clips for connection to a battery post and cut the clips off so you don't have to split open a charger. Then use the socket behind the dash (to bulky for my tastes).

- Then spliced in (soldered) 2 sets of male/female (pos/neg) leads onto the backside of the 12v 'switched' outlet's plug wires (it's possible to get the pins out of the connector for soldering and sliding heat shrink over the splice).

* 2nd set is for my portable XM receiver w/FM transmitter that has a lifetime subscription (in between RA4's subscription times)

- next I connected the charger to the new terminals behind the dash, zip tied it to a frame piece and routed it up through a hole I made under the rubber pad in the dash's upper tray (easy to hide later with a new rubber pad if needed. Also notched the little rubber pad).
