My 2014 has developed a paint bubble (rust) on drivers side front fender and at the bottom of driver's side rear door. I've started to do some research on what warranty has to say about that, but haven't found a clear answer yet. I have 95,000 miles. Anyone been through this and what were you told.

Well they have a warranty on it that should cover that. I would think. And probably going to boil down to how much your service manager likes you lol. When the glass doctor replace my rear window. They scratched the inside of the rear door body and tore the weather stripping. Scratched up alot of the interior plastic and tore a hole in my new slush mat. Dodge dealership is taking care of it because the glass doctor said they didn't do it. Well they pulled the rear seat so they had to have done it.

They had to pull seats for a window replacement? Seems a little excessive, looks like there is plenty of access just removing the head rests.

is it too big to touch up paint yourself with the mopar sticks? not saying it's right, but a thought.

The front and rear fender rust bubbles, right above the arch is all to common unfortunately. You'll probably find it's rusting from the inside out from behind the insulation pad that's glued to the inside of the front and rear fenders.

I wouldn't sweat the front fender thing too badly. A lot cheaper and easier repair than the rear. Totally sucks on a 6yr/old truck, but that's rust belt blues.

6yr/old with almost 100K miles on it, I doubt a dealer will do anything for you regardless of how the warranty is worded, but if you don't mind dealing with the dealer, it's worth a try!

I contacted the dealer i bought it at and getting hooked up with their body shop. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Well, I spoke with the body shop at the dealer and he looked up the Vin and advised rust and corrosion warranty expired in 2018.

MOPAR COLLISION REPLACEMENT PARTS LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY

This warranty is not transferable to a subsequent owner of the vehicle. FCA US LLC warrants, to the original purchaser only, Mopar Replacement Sheet Metal products, including plastic bumper covers and grilles, against defects in material or workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which the part is installed.

This warranty includes perforation (metal rust-through) due to corrosion in normal use. Replacement sheet metal products which prove to be defective due to perforation (inside-out rust-through only) will be repaired or replaced at the option of FCA US LLC. If the vehicle is eight (8) model years old or more, FCA US LLC may replace the defective part with a comparable salvage part. This warranty covers the cost of parts, labor and paint for replacement parts, including outer-panel sheet metal parts, if incurred as a result of the failure; if preapproved by FCA US LLC; and if an authorized FCA US LLC dealer originally installed the part. Parts are covered on a replacement basis only, if the original part was sold over-the-counter. This warranty is not transferable.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED:

This warranty does not cover corrosion due to fire, accident, vehicle abuse, owner negligence or vehicle alteration; corrosion caused by sand, hail, airborne fallout, chemicals, salt, road hazards or stone damage; or surface paint deterioration or corrosion (other than inside-out perforation).


I realize this is points to collision replacement parts, but it is the only mention of rust and corrosion found so far.

Any of you have any rust and corrosion claims and if so what you were told. As previously stated I have just under 95,000 and no body damage except to two areas noted.

I'm having a similar issue, I have a big pocket of rust at the hemi emblem on the passenger side, guess ill replace the fender and paint it..
Just sad all these beautiful RAMS just rust away as early as 1 year old...just a shame...thats Chinese steel for ya...

Both of my front fenders are rotted out at the bottom, behind the tires. Quote is $2400 to replace both, paint, finish, re-badge. Does that price sound reasonable?

That price sounds crazy high to me for front fenders. Pre-primed new fenders can be had for under $200 ea. Say on the high end, $400 for two replacement fenders. Prep, paint and labor is the expensive part, but there's no way that should cost $2000. I would have guessed at more like $800-1000 for paint, prep and labor. We're not talking a Lamborghini here.

Even if you needed new plastic fender liners, they're like $40/ea.

Body work is a very expensive proposition. While the cost of the fender is part of it, there is a lot of other issues that add to the cost. Emblems on the panel add to the cost, and while you can just paint the panel and put it on, depending on how the panel fits in sometimes you can't just stop there but have to blend it with the panels next to it, which means working on The hood and the door I need side. Plus you have time to take the panels off and put them back on. You pay around $100 an hour give or take for a good body shop depending on where you are. Plus the time for the paint booth worker and then buffing out. My personal opinion is that a reasonable price if the body shop is a good one, look up reviews of their work or ask for references. You could try finding the same color part through a salvage yard. While the shade might be a touch off it would be arguably closer than a freshly painted body part that's had no exposure to sun.
