I'm pretty excited to have some real mods on order :happy107:
S&B were VERY good to deal with; they have a Canadian setup to avoid costly shipping & duties coming from the US.
I can't wait to get the CAI & scoop put on, then romp on it.

I went with the Moroso air/oil separator over BT because of the filter media & construction, plus I like where they mount it, and the ball valve for ease of draining.

I've had a S&B sitting in my basement for almost 2 weeks :( . I'm waiting for weather and time to cooperate.

Finally got it installed after waiting out our cold weather...
FWIW the "scoop" isn't a "scoop" so much as a dropped second intake port. It grabs air from directly underneath the engine bay using a flat opening. It is not a "ram-air" setup. I'm sure you could fabricate something but it would lower your ground clearance and get torn off the first time you park close to a parking barricade.
It's quieter than I expected, but that helps keep the wife acceptance factor high. Sounds GREAT and throaty when you put your foot into it.

The scoop looks like a wonderful way to pull up a lot of water mist on a rainy day.
I do like the S&B intake though!

That won't hurt anything. My intake on the G8 literally sits right behind the grill and gets all the water into it. As long as it's running you're good. If it's not running and water gets in and somehow gets into the engine, you're TOAST!

^ I agree. My CAI's filter on my car was 7" off the ground, fully exposed, and never showed signs of a problem. I drive all year around and we get some pretty wicked standing water.
I understand water ingestion and hydrolock, but think people worry too much. Companies like S&B have to acknowledge it to cover their butts legally, but unless you're fording a stream I wouldn't worry. Even then, the original quarter panel intake port is fully available, then there is the 2' of vertical scoop ingestion the engine would have to provide enough suction to overcome, and the oiled filter, filter housing/box and tubing to the TB.

Furthermore, there is a cutout in the scoop a couple inches below where it inserts in to the base of the CAI housing where it fits over a "support tab" on the truck. More opportunity for it to pull air from another source if the scoop was submersed.

Looks like a really nice set up. Give us some feedback on the performance after you have had it for a while. The S&B is on my list of mods I want to do.

That's the best picture of the scoop I've seen. It's hard to tell what it actually does from the S&B pictures of it. I might get one anyway.

I thought we were a bit scoop info/pic lacking as well.
No, it's not great value at $99 but if you're spending $300+ for a CAI it's not going to kill you either, and why not maximize the benefits?
It would be nearly impossible to get pics at any other angle unless the truck was on a lift- sorry.

Update; "thanks" to Mopac I spent 2 months waiting for the Moroso can. Also thanks to fastNugly/D.A.P. I got it in less than a week.
The Moroso can is GORGEOUS. I love the clean, simple logo on the top.
It has a drain valve on the bottom which I extended down to beside the mouth of the scoop. I plan to drain it at each oil change, so when I pop the hood and remove the oil fill cover I can open the upper drain ball valve, get under the truck, remove the oil pan drain bolt, then open the lower drain ball valve and drain any residue from the Moroso can.

After more driving with the S&B, I'm really happy. It's a little louder at part throttle but just roars at WOT. It doesn't drone on the highway and is very livable. I'm very happy with this piece.

Awesome!! Those are both really cool mods. I'm glad to hear the S&B sounds good, and that's a sweet setup you're running with the drain valve.

Looks Awesome! I have the moroso can as well. I also extended the drain. mine comes out near the front passenger tire so all I have to do is park with the front wheels turned. That provides enough room for me to put a jug under there for draining. You may want to check the can a few times before the oil is do. depending on weather and how I drive It fills quickly. Not sure I'd wait for each oil change. Looks great though I live the lower valve as well.
