Ok so after more searching on here I've seen it come up but no real answer was ever given. You guys with the newer version of the s&b intake that has the side removable plug, are you guys running it without it to open the box up or did you keep it plugged?

I tried both ways when I had mine. I saw little difference between them except with it removed it made more noise and it was sucking in warm engine bay air. I'd leave it in...

The fender inlet on the S&B intake is bigger and less restrictive than the factory air box so just that alone flows more air

I left mine out for more air flow. My truck is also tuned, so that made an impact in my decision. The only time it runs warmer is when I come to a stop.

I just picked up a used previous version with the OEM and additional lower inlets. Planning to run some custom duct down behind the valence.
