Went to the local drag strip tonight and watched a bunch of trucks run. Most of them were diesel's but there was two ram quad cabs with 5.7 's running, and all I'm thinking is superchips/tuners.I was thinking lift kits , exhaust ,window tint, but **** now I'm thinking tuner stuff. Now to get the wife on board, not gonna happen:killer:

I once asked a well known local race mod mechanic how fast my car could go. He answered "how much money do you have?" I learned right then that the sky is the limit as long as you have the cash to back it.

Wait till you make a pass down the track on a test and tune or street night, you will be hooked. Go cruising through the 3rd gen engine and performance section to. The exhaust thread and cam info listings will get you really thinking.

My first tuner was a hypertec, way before I was wise. Go with SC if your not gonna do any motor work if your planning on doing a cam go aheady and pony up for a DSP.

Honestly, I'd pony up for the DSP now, and grab a Custom tune for both your PCM and TCM and hang on tight.

Racing is very addictive. I used to be into the show side of things...had all the apearance mods and 4 12" subs behind the seat of my rc/sb truck. I made 1 pass down the dragstrip, and sold the stereo the next week. From there, I have only cared about performance.

You can have alot of fun with a big truck when it has the power to run with some of the sports cars in the area.

No ****,I might just try this before tuning :) The two 5.7's were running in the 13's but I'm sure they were't stock

With a superchips no spare tire no tailgate and an intake my truck went 14.6 so I'm sure you can get it running good

Buy a diesel, if you wanna go fast in a truck, for WAY less money then it takes in a gasser.

I agree to a certain point because you get fast with less things like a programmer but I know parts get really expensive for diesels specially things like transmissions

Yes, but then again, you start making decent power with a gasser, you are spending the same money, for the same parts...

My 2001 gasser that had a Novi blown 408 stroker, needed a fully built 47re to hold the power, which isnt too far off from the full billet 47re thats in my diesel.

At the end of the day though, the diesel just does it..and EVERYTHING else better, the only complaint i could possibly see, is the noise level...my cummins is a loud sumbich, but my daily driver cummins gets 24mpg...HONEST mileage.

i had one in my 2006 hemi...and removed it, made the trans do funky stuff, havent had an issue since.
