Shocked at how much lower in value my 21' 2500 CTD is compared to a 2500 Mega Cab or 3500 of the same specs.

So I ordered a 22' 3500 Limited back in November. I had a dually last year at this time, but hated it. I found a 21' Laramie 2500 CTD and bought it on Labor Day and knew I would just trade it in when the new one I had planned to order arrived since most people were getting close to what they paid for them in trade. Checking the KBB values and what the dealer has offered me is 10k less than what I paid. If you run the same specs but on a 2500 Mega Cab or 3500 same specs, the truck is almost worth 10k more than mine. The reasoning I'm told is that a 2500 Laramie CTD is a dime a dozen. Unbelievable!

Thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

Supply is starting to catch up a little and the demand for trucks is going to slow down given the current fuel prices. Also the people that "need" an HD truck are going to lean towards a 3500 for the payload advantage over a 2500. Mega cabs are fewer then CC's so probably going to be worth a little more.

I think the used vehicle over valuation has peaked. How fast prices will come down will be interesting to watch. I'd guess they will remain somewhat elevated at least until new vehicle inventories start to ramp up.

Agree with comments above. Might add that a 2500 Cummins Laramie payload limit is a factor. Good luck and enjoy the 3500 when it arrives!
