I have an 04 Ram 1500 5.7 4wd. I have pacesetter LT’s on it now and my truck is loud. The headers have cracked and I need to get them replaced. I have aftermarket cats, BBK throttle body and spacer, K&N CAI, and Flowmaster 50 series mufflers with an X pipe. I’m looking at getting shorty headers and probably changing my mufflers. What brand of ceramic coated headers are of good quality where I wont have this issue and what brand muffler would you recommend? I don’t mind some exhaust sound but I do not want drone in the cab.

I have used the JBA shorties and the BBK shorties in the past. I actually like the fitment of the BBK shorty headers better and their ceramic coating is nice.

If it were me I would repair the long tubes but that's my opinion. When I want to quiet down my 2½" Flowmaster 40 series mufflers I slip a pair of 12" Dynomax Bullet Mufflers on the outlet and it makes a difference especially with the drone. I have the same truck as you as well as the long tubes, x-pipe and a pair of 40 series Flowmasters just in a 2WD truck.

I doubt you'll ever completely eliminate drone with an aftermarket exhaust system and upgraded headers in use. H However, you can mitigate it, per se.

Perhaps look at Magnaflow mufflers and for shorty's I'd look to AFE brand vs JBA and especially BBK.
If going with shorty's, I would also have a custom y-pipe made up, too.

My longtubes are cracked where they can’t be welded. I have already tried that route. They need to be replaced. I just want to make my truck a lot more quiet than it is now and have headers that will last and not crack within 3-5 years like the Pacesetters. The shop I take my truck for all my exhaust work will be able to do anything I need them to. Just dressing the cost of everything to get done.

I decided to go back with Longtubes. That way I don’t have to redo the whole exhaust system. I was looking at the OBX long tubes but seen mixed reviews about them. What Longtubes would you recommend? Not looking to pay $1500 for Longtubes, just something that will work decent and not crack in a few years.

Unfortunately quality comes at a price, especially nowadays.
Working decent and looking for inexpensive LT's is a hard combo to achieve.

If you're going to keep your truck, then invest in some quality LT's like American Racing Headers LT's. This is my recommendation.

It's an expensive and time consuming scope to re&re headers. Buy once, do it once, cry once ;)

For some reason I cannot find any quality LT’s for my truck except Kooks. They are the only brand I can find. Last time I looked at LT headers (many years ago) I remember there were multiple quality brands out there. Seems like not so much anymore for my truck.
