I’m a new member here and I just purchased a 21 Big Horn 1500. I have the 12” Uconnect with Navigation with the Alpine 9 powered speakers. When adjusting the audio options for SiriusXM, the Surround Sound option is blacked out so it doesn’t work with the SiriusXM input on the radio and the sound on the truck is negatively affected. The Surround Sound option is available for other audio inputs including FM, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. I am extremely disappointed in this situation, especially noting that my previous 2013 Ram the Surround Sound option for SiriusXM worked and sounded great.
I contacted RAM Customer and received this unacceptable response: “I have spoke with our Uconnect specialists and have received more information on this issue from them. Here is the answer that I received:
"operating as designed and was decided by Sirius XM that surround sound not to be included in their new Panasonic radio systems. Decision was made from how data is delivered (compression having a negative effect of audio quality)"
I am sorry that I did not have a more favorable response for you at this time.”
So there are no plans to fix this issue. I’m pretty disappointed spending $2,700 on a state of the art system that doesn’t address this issue.
I’m not sure if anyone else has this issue and if there are any work around.
