I have a brand new 2019 1500 RAM 5.7 Liter Hemi MDS VVT engine. It has 1100 miles on it.
I pull into my garage and after about 10 minutes the garage is filled with the noxious smell of burnt rubber or perhaps that of a hot radiator hose. On occasion, the odor comes into the cab. Makes it nasty to drive. A bit difficult to smell if I park it outside because the odor just dissipates into the atmosphere. In the garage, however, it has no where to go so the odor gets trapped in there.
Any ideas on this? Dealer has looked at it and said they could not find anything. Probably because they have a very large high ceiling shop and the odor is just rising with the hot air off the engine.

Did you raise to hood so they could find the motor-----LOL Could it be a hose that might be against the exhaust system anywhere?

The dealer said they put it up on the rack and looked all around. Looked for anything up against the exhaust, stickers left on anything that might get hot, excess coatings, etc. Also ran some tests on the electrical system. Found nothing. Loads of fun...., BRAND NEW TRUCK!

Pretty common for the 5.7s to smell like burning oil for the first few months. I thought the same thing when I brought mine home and could smell it for a few weeks, so I did some research on it. Mine went away after a bit as was stated it would on the forums. Mine is also a 2018 but same Motor and tranny

Thanks for the reply. This smell is not oil though...., it is a nasty hot rubber smell..., or similar.

After 1100 miles it seems like that anything should have burned off by now.

I agree...., all coatings should be long gone by 1100 miles.
