So my kid works for a local tire shop and has access to some serious deals on tires. What I'm looking for is something that will handle the occasional snow we get here in Va along with some summertime beach driving down in OBX. Not doing any off roading and have no intention of lifting my truck other than leveling the front possibly. I've also read that a MT tire is not good for snow.

Need some input and also if I do this anyone interested in some stock 17" tires with under 1000 miles on em ( will properly post in the for sale section if so )

Subscribed. I also live in the Hampton Roads area and have asked the same question with zero response. I'm thinking of running a 33x12.50 tire just for the bigger footprint.

Could try the BFG KO2. Great in snow and been used for Baja type applications.

Add to that the Duratrac. Looks like a mud tire but is winter rated and digs through anything. Gets plenty of miles, I run mine almost daily especially in the winter. The open tread pattern will move sand and the sipes bite ice and snow. Amazingly quiet on the highway.

Was that with one of the 10 ply duratracs or the 4 ply?

whatever the m/t is.all i know it was a d rated.i tore a hole so big driving down a hard pack dirt road,i put 3 plugs in it and it still wouldn't hold air.they were almost brand new.i switched them for nittos the next day.had to drive 6oo km's to the tire shop and back.i was 80 km's into the bush and over 200 km's from the nearest city, in the middle of a fishing trip.

And I go hunting in the bush up cut lines and through washouts and mud, sticks, roots, rocks and never once had a problem with my Duratracs.
But anything can happen at any time to any tire. As the saying goes, **** happens.
I'd say Super Swamper bias TSL's are tougher compared to Nittos or Goodyears but suck on the road, more so in winter.
But this is a great tire IMO. https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires/wrangler-duratrac

Duratracs are the best tire I've ever owned. 60,000 km of highway, dirt, snow, mud, you name it. Never had a flat and never got stuck.

I'll let my 3 other friends that have been running Duratracs for the past 4 years problem free that they are living on borrowed time. Thanks for the warning.

I had a Dodge fuel pump quit on me while hunting. 80 miles from any parts store. Should I ***** about Dodge products and only purchase aftermarket ones?
Probably.
Same as a friend who loves Cooper tires. New, maybe 200 miles on them and a root goes through a sidewall. Does that mean all Cooper tires are now garbage? Suppose so.

OK EVERYBODY. STOP DRIVING UNTIL YOU BUY NITTO TIRES. THERE THE ONLY ONES WORTH BUYING.

I bought a set of these...275-70-18...$765.00 shipped to my front door...I will use them for 4-5 months during plow season, then switch back to the TransForce AT oem junk...
