So far so good with performance and mpg.

We are on our trip to visit family in SE PA. We live in north central Arizona. The photo I took was upon our arrival in PA yesterday. Truck is a 2017 Laramie 1500 crew cab 4 x4 with the 6'4 bed. Since I saw posts that said not to trust the dash mpg read out we hand calculated about 6 or so fill ups and confirmed our dash read outs are correct within a 1/10 mpg. The speedometer reading is exact according to our Garmin GPS. I was hustling to make it out here as you can see with a 70 mph average. 80% of the time I had it on cruise control but heavy traffic in Tennessee and Virginia kept me from using it all the time. Ironically the best MPG was in the mountains of Arizona, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Virginia. Tenn. scored the best with 22.9 for a tank full and the flat areas of Texas and Oklahoma the worst with 19.9. I attribute that to head winds in those area's. Still surprising I got such good mpg in Tenn and Va considering the up and down hills that are on I-81. The bed had about 600lbs of stuff in it and I do have a tonneau cover on . The first tank full was ethanol free 87, after that I just ran regular 87 as I couldn't find any ethanol free gas on the trip. I do have the towing option with limited slip but I believe its the stock ratio. So I'm happy with the performance and comfort so far with my first Chrysler product in owning and driving cars and trucks 47 years. We shall see how it does on the return trip!

That's great. I have a 2017 Laramie CC Hemi and took a 380 mile trip which averaged 22.4 mpg. I thought that was awesome considering I went through Atlanta rush hour traffic. Good for you!

Pretty solid. My best on my 17 so far was on a trip in the mountains for a family vacation this summer. Was like a 3 hr drive each way. On the way back had more downhill than up, but still a mix of up/down/flat and I averaged 26. I haven't touched that since. I just got back from my parents place which is 70 miles away all highway and I reset it at their house. I got back at 23.9 mpg

Hi nplenzick, Hello from Paulden Az, just north of Chino Valley. I used to get close to 20-22 mpg when I just had a tonneau cover and Michelin tires. I now have BFGoodrich TA KO2's, a great tire for our dirt roads but very heavy and aggresive tread, and a Leer topper, which does a great job getting the air over our 25' travel trailer. I now get 18mpg around town and on the freeway and 12-13mpg consistently towing. I have a feeling it was the tires more than the topper that affected my mpg. Doesn't matter, you don't tow a trailer and/or own a Ram to worry about the mpg!

I'm averaging 14mpg or so overall in my 2017 Rebel with the S&B Intake and Carven Progressive exhaust. I got 17-18mpg on a trip up to the north shore in Minnesota a couple months ago.

My truck only has 3200 miles on it...so I'm hoping it'll break in some more.

I'm guessing with the 3.92 rear end that I may never see 20mpg...but we'll see.

My first long trip starts February 8th for 10 days. 4200 miles from Minnesota to California and back. That'll be the first real test to see if I can squeak some better mileage out of her!

If not though...I'm not going to complain too much...love this truck!

My 2012 with 6-speed can get 20 mpg on the freeway assuming I stay around 65mph or less.
In town however its more like 12.5 calculated. Part of that may be the Magnaflow though: makes me smile every time I get into the skinny pedal.

Over Thanksgiving, I drove from Boise to Portland and back. I had the cruise control set at 75 and averaged just over 18 mpg on the way there and around 16mpg on the way back. There was a pretty substantial head wind coming back, so that probably played a part. The truck had around 1500 miles on it and I have the 3.92 rear end. I get around 14 mpg around town, but I tend to put my foot in it a bit. I haven't gotten used to that big v8 sound and I like to hear it... :) My old vehicle was a 2001 Yukon with the old 305 hp 5.3l engine and a 3.73 rear end. I got about the same gas mileage as I'm getting now, so I'm pretty happy with it.

I've got a 17' Laramie with a 3.92 rear end. Getting average of 14 right now with about 2500 miles on the clock. Not happy about that. Wondering when the brake in happens where I see 19-20. The plan is to go to a 35' tire with a 4" lift with should bring me into the 3.70 gear ratio area. I'm guessing I'll never be happy with my mileage on this truck as I came from a diesel.

I have the "old" 5.7/5sp with 3.55. Only run one tank through on the highway so far, and that was up into the mountains. Averages about 18.5 I think it was, hand calculated. Average on my commute and regular driving is about 16. Right now I'm testing the Pedal Commander in Eco mode to see if that helps.

Maybe in a couple years, I can afford to trade up to a 3.6/8sp :p

My 15 outdoorsman crew cab gets 13 mpg on average around town and that’s with a 6” lift and 35’s. I have 3.92 gears with nothing done to the truck performance wise besides a carven muffler swap, if you wanna consider that a performance upgrade lol

Stock w just k&n filter, my 2013 QC outdoorsman 2wd 3.55 5.7 6 speed gets right at 14.5 average, but on long trips I get 24+ mpg, first night I brought it home about 9 months ago(when I bought it, had 29k miles) , driving 100 miles home I got 24.9 average mpg. My 05 hemi Durango awd/4wd gets 17+ average same 3.55. Seems city driving ruins my gas mileage but love how good it gets on freeway. I always use 89 octane.

That seems to be the error factor on the 3.92 geared trucks......on my 2012 the EVIC is almost always 1 1/2 mpg high, and the closest it has ever been is only 1 mpg high.

That is 1 thing I'll give my old Silverado.....the DIC mpg computer on that was ALWAYS within 0.1 mpg of the hand calc'd numbers....don't know how they did it, but it was dead nuts on for the most part.

Did you have the system reset for the larger tires, or are you compensating for it in the mpg calculations?

My speedometer is only off 1 mph so it wouldn’t make that much of a difference
