Not that it is news to anyone....

First time driving my truck in "real" rain (I've only had it for 5,800 miles - and 8 months!)...go to get on the highway, give it some gas on the on-ramp, and the rear end wants to come around. I drove it slightly sideways for ~100-200 feet - surprised that the traction control didn't kill the throttle, but because I kept the front end front...maybe it didn't figure it out fast enough?

Once I knew first hand how crappy the tires were, I did turn the truck with the gas pedal a few times on purpose....which my wife thought was funny.

Oh well - I've read a lot of complaints about the OEM tires...now I know!

Good thing it only rains about twice a year...or I'd be interested in ditching the OEM tires soon.

Yup factory **** years are not worth a ****. More flats, no traction and poor wear. I ditched mine about 1000 miles into ownership.

I only had a set (Nitto TGs) from around August to November on my truck before I put my winters back on... handled really well in the rain.

Curious as to which Goodyear you have. My ram isn't new but has HPs on it. If I have the trailer in the rain, I CAN'T go forward from a dead stop if there is a slight hill.

I didn't have any complaints really about my oem tires. Sure they spin a little easy if gassed a little too much in the rain but otherwise, I had fun with them. Hell, they worked fine on a 2400 mile round trip back home my first winter with the truck. Drove through everything from the sunny vegas weather, through rain, packed snow, ice, and fresh snow only a few hours old.

But then I got my 17's with some bfg at's and never looked back :)

I had wrangler HP and they sucked bad IMO I also have a set of good years on my Durango and they also suck no traction at all really unless in 4wd once any moisture or on road. I will never buy Goodyear tires they just happen to be low bid and come on a Ram and many others so I have had quite a few over the years. All the same issue poor traction and poor wear very easy to get flats. I have heard the Duratrac is good but I am not willing to help good year stay open.

How do Nitto Terra graps do in the rain? Anyone know?

They did really well for me. They only started to slightly slip on wet pavement after over 40k miles on them. I ran mine till 48k and replaced them with new ones.

I'm on my 3rd truck with Goodyear HPs. Always wanted to try a different tire but never saw the need. My 2007 had original tires when I traded it at 142000 Kms. Yes they were done and I had rotated the spare into the mix. The 2010 Laramie passed the safety with original tires when I sold it at 81000 kms. I am now at 45,000 on the 2012 Longhorn and judging from the wear I should have similair performance with these. I agree that wet snow traction is not great. If I was offroading i would go to something else but as a highway tire, I like them.

Granted my truck is still new, but I've never had an issue with the 20" hp's yet, rain or snow
