So what about the + / - gear buttons?

PokeAlong here… I’m driving my third Ram 5.7 my first one was a 16 then a 19 and now back to a 15. I check every once in a while to make sure that I’m in 8 then one more push it goes blank I don’t mess with it even when towing I just hit the tow haul. Gas mileage is outstanding for a 1/2 ton. That’s my two cents.

You can use those to shut off MDS,as well,as Maddog said
I tried to turn that feature off using a Diablo Trinity EX tuner, but found ,MDS cannot be turned off permanently that way, with my experience. After a time I noticed it somehow shows up again, after a few weeks.Tried several times trying to tune it out.So I always disable it with those buttons, when I put it in gear.

It's actually NOT a good idea to disable MDS every time you get in your vehicle by using the gear selector....

Basically, doing this restricts oil flow, which is the exact OPPOSITE of what you should want in your vehicle. That video goes over a pretty laborious way of how you can disable MDS, but unless you're building a race car/truck, or are tearing down / rebuilding your engine.... then it's completely not worth it, and should just let the truck work like it was designed to.

There are members here who claim to have disabled the MDS every time they get into their truck, and for the last decade.

I don't think there's any specific proof that disabling the MDS will cause any grief.

This is another internet rumor.

I drive mostly on rural highways, but whenever I visit urban areas, the MDS usually gets disabled.
