Hey everyone, sold my radio on eBay, guy who bought it wants my VIN number off my truck. I’m sure it’s probbaly ok, just wanted to make sure it’s safe to give out your VIN. Is that needed for the new radio?

unless you have the radio code.. you probably should get it from your dealer and give it to him if you don't have that info in your owner's manual somewhere..
That won't work, he needs the VIN to obtain the radio's unlock code. they're unique to each vehicle.Give him a vin of another truck with the exact same year, model and radio option. Done.

I don't think a VIN number is something that really needs to be kept secret. Hell, you can walk up to any vehicle and read it off the dash. It's even printed on the windshield registration sticker in NY.
