technically, modifying any DOT stamped light could cause it to not be acceptable anymore.

Now, lets be honest..........is an officer going to give you crap about it? Probably not.

At a local GTG I asked a MO State Highway Patrolman if he thought anything on the lights was not "legal". Lack of a reflector, that was it. (mine is painted). I'm ok with that.

Its all about interpretation. Keep your old lights, just in case.

I'm tinting mine. But still visible. And I am definitely keeping my old ones. Just in case.

I would pull someone over more for their tail light tint than projectors in the headlights.

I'll give you a quick schoolin'.

Projectors from the factory - some come with HIDs, some are halogen. If they are HID, there is a nice size hole for the bulb to go in. Its a D2S and no halogens would fit.

For the Morimoto Minis - they are a H1 bulb, but the opening is shaped like a key - so, the standard H1 halogen will not fit without dremeling out the bottom of the projector.

I've seen it done! Pointless. LOL

I read at one point that 1. any NON-OEM HID is illegal for on road use. 2. any modification to a certified headlight will make it illegal. But like others have said, most cops(none around here for sure) will care unless they are not aimed right. They will got after tinting of any kind first, windows, tails, or whatever.

Well, my aunt is a cop, and she said they have had people argue the ticket, and they will make them take apart their headlights right there to show them the DOT stamp on the HIDs. If it's not there, then you get the ticket.

What cars come stock with HIDs? I know some, such as the Audi R8, come with LED headlights. Usually those that come stock with HIDs include projectors I would believe. Which would be DOT stamped. Aftermarket HIDs in chrome bowls is what they're after.

Mustangs, camaros, and genesis coupe for sure. But it's an upgrade over the standard head lights. Forget what else

The new rams have halogen bulbs not HID some luxury cars do have HID but others, although they may even have projectors, have halogen bulbs (Chrysler 300 and the new Ram)
