Speedometer Gear

So I went with 40in tires on my Ram and I have to change the Speedo Pinion. I know I need a 27 tooth one which will get me close but where do I index it? The lowest index is 30. That's where im having trouble, can anyone give me insight?

I have the gear but I don't know where to index it. The lowest number on the index is 30 I have a 27 tooth gear

When you say "index", are you referring to what position the gear and housing install in the side of the trans?

I think this may help...

Line up the adapter with the corresponding tooth count at the 6 O'Clock position.

The problem is my tooth count stops at 30. I have just been dealing with the incorrect speedo lol
