Im experiencing a problem whers between shift my engine rpm are staying high in the 1800 2000 rpm range when i push the clutch in then finally reach base idol when the truck comes to a near stop. Being in neutral the whole while. I have a 5 speed stick and ive been driving them my whole life so i know the rpms are supposed to return to base when the clutch is pushed in. Any ideas?

Any chance your clutch cylinder is failing and it's not fully diesengaging. If you rev it up in neutral does it come right back down?

Today i replaced the iac valve motor and checked all the vacuum parts, no vacuum leaks and i inspected the pcv system and replaced some hoses that were cracked but it still lingers at 1200 rpm when i shift to neutral and stays there until about 4 seconds after i come to a complete stop then it goes down to normal idle.

Yea if im stopped and i rev it up in neutral with and without the clutch pushed in it comes right back down. If im rolling and i put it in neutral i feel it is working properly because i can rev it up and down no problem it just never returns to base idle until i stop.

I had an engine light because i disconnected the mass air sensor to see if there was a change in idle, then reconnected it and disconnected the iac and it drove and returned to base idle between shifts just fine but accelerated funny, as to be expected. I then resest the computer after replacing the iac by touching the positive and negative battery leads together for a few minutes.
