I have a 2006 ram 1500 5.7 with 111,000 miles .I bought it 2 years ago with 89,000 I changed the spark plugs with champion Cooper at 90,000 miles and put a spectra air filter about 6 months ago. Yesterday went to start it and had a slight hesitation but started and ran fine. The truck started fine the rest of the day and ran good .This morning had to cycle the key 3 times to get it to start. Each time about 3 seconds. It idled perfect once started. Had cel light so I plugged in my scanner and gave me p0335 crank sensor and then under pending had p0300 multi misfire . I shut off the truck erased the codes and started back up fine . I went to work and it ran smooth and accelerated good. Anybody else ever have this problem ? Everything I read with this code is that the truck would shut off or run crappy. I don't have those symptoms.

Thanks

Hi paul6676,
What is your battery voltage? Sounds like you have a weak or dead cell in the battery. I assume that when you say you had to cycle three times you are referring to turning the key to the start position three times before it turned over.
Good luck getting it sorted,

Sorry I should have been more specific. 3 times of trying to start it .Each time the motor would keep cranking just wouldn't turn on and I didn't want to burn out the starter so I would stop then try again and on the 3rd time was the charm . While she was cranking did not seem like a lack of power.

So I made it to the mechanic yesterday and they replaced the crank sensor. Still had the same problem .They opened the harness and after removing the black tape they found 2 wires on the knock sensor exposed and touching each other. Once they fixed that the problem was gone.

Mine started doing something similar to.. Once and a while it'll crank and crank on the first try of starting it, cycle the key off and try the second time and it fires right up.. It runs perfectly fine after it starts.
