Truck has a 2.5 inch level. It's perfectly aligned and balanced. My only irritation is when I get over 60mph, I notice some vibration in the steering. Nothing crazy, but I'm needing to check the steering stabilizer for sure. I'm about to add the steering box bracket to stiffen things up as well, but would I be better served to add a dual steering stabilizer system to completely reduce vibration in the front? Would it even be beneficial if I'm not off-roading or driving with aggressive tires? This truck is used for daily driving (7 mile round trip to work) and hauling large trailers/goosenecks about every other week on mostly paved roads.

I'm interested in your question. I've never replaced one, out of ignorance. I've not noticed any steering difficulties either, so I'm unclear how much stability they add to an HD truck. This is only my 2nd HD.

I am running 2.5” leveling kit + 35” tires on 20x9 rims. 0 issues with vibration or the dreaded death wobble (mine is a gasser vs. diesel so engine is significantly lighter). I installed the steering brace and the Fox steering damper. The brace stiffened up the front end and relieved stress off of the steering box. The damper reduced bump steer significantly. The OEM damper has almost 0 rebound. The Fox has 105 psi and has an internally floating piston (IFP) design that handles the horizontal damper position more efficiently. The steering brace was only $140 and the damper was $170 or so. Both will make a noticeable change.

"Out of stock with no due date"

Any recommendation for one of our site vendors? Steering braces?
CJC sells Thuren, I believe @GotExhaust.com is a thuren vendor as well. Worth shooting Don a email to see if they got a batch in. I know King is super backed up but sometimes they get batches of stuff at Thuren but dont get a chance to update the site

Am I intruding on OP if I ask what about a stock OEM HD truck? Not lifted, lowered, leveled, monkeyed with? No monster tires, etc.?

I see a single shock absorber on the steering, jet black, no labels. I'm assuming it's a cheapo Chinese thing. The truck doesn't wobble, at least not that I've noticed, but @ 36k miles and 4 years old would it be good to replace with a premium aftermarket shock? And if so, what are the recommended brands?

You need to find the source of the vibration instead of trying to mask it with a stabilizer (or multiple). Same for the steering bracket, that was great on the older trucks with the smaller steering box but doesn't not offer much for the new trucks.

Also be aware that a lot of those "charged" stabilizers could induce a right push in your steering. Great it you have a left radial pull to start but not if it is driving straight now.

I'm on a 2.5 level with 35's and running the stock stabilizer with 83K miles on it and it drives fine.

This^^

I probably should have added the stock stabilizer is actually a very capable oem part. Im not a fan of dual stabilizers or any stabilizer that attaches to the tie rod via u-bolts.

Can you drive out of the vibration, for example is fine lower than 60 or at 70? If you are driving in and out of it that would be a good indicator its a balance issue. Trackbar would be another place to check death wobble usually stems from a worn trackbar

So, do these newer trucks have a bigger steering gear / bracket / damper such that aftermarket upsizing is not needed? I'm going back to the pre-2013 trucks with the notorious "death wobble".

I dunno, guys........it looks to me like the Ram HD 2014+ model year trucks fixed the death wobble and wandering. I took some pics of my steering linkage. The links are close to parallel with each other and horizontal - none at upward angles to the steering gear. Also, get aload of the steering gear box attachment to the driver side frame rail - a welded box bracket. Furthermore, there are TWO frame rail cross members just behind the steering gear box.

I can't see how such a frame could be much stiffer and less steering wobbly. 2017 Ram 2500 Steering Linkage.jpeg
