Hi all, I am new here so I apologize if this has been covered. I have a 1994.5 2500 2nd gen Diesel, all stock, great beat up work truck, but the tuner is starting to go out. I don't want to spend much, so am looking at used OEM replacement stereos on ebay. My question is can I go newer than 2002 and do a direct plug 'n play with out additional wiring harnesses or dash kits? All I need is radio, but adding CD or an aux would be nice. I just don't want to spend a lot of time and money on the stereo when I have some more important issues with this truck that could use that time and money. That said, this has been a fantastic truck I don't ever intend to part with!
Thanks,
Tim

I don't believe that Radio newer than 2001 will fit in your truck.
That being said, you can get a nice aftermarket (Alpine etc) from Crutchfield for around $150-200 that will include a mounting kit and wiring harness.

I installed the deck in my Dad's '98 Ram in less than 20 minutes start to finish.

Thanks WhiteExpress,
Unfortunately I am trying to go as cheap as possible, which is why I am looking for a used stock radio that someone else doesn't want. I think I found one that will suit me just fine for $30, I'll save the extra cash for a tank of Diesel!

Wow, didn't know you could find stock decks that cheap!

In that case, hell, it'll be super easy. I don't recall the early (94-97) Dash well enough, but I'm sure it comes off super easy. 2 10MM bolts holding the deck into the dash.
