One of the things I have the least amount of knowledge in is aftermarket wheels and tires and everything in between fitment, etc.....All the cars I've ever owned, never had aftermarket wheels or tires..always kept it OE tires and could care less about wheels until now having this truck

I'd like to know what kind of tires i could fit on my Laramie Longhorn and get away without scrubbing or having to modify anything.

I ***think*** From what i've read that my wheels are 20x9, but now i read the wheel size FAQ section and saw that there is a 20x8 wheel too. So :33:

So to be clear, I want a rugged wider looking tire, not just a normal street tire....want it to be wider if I can... I like the wide/tire wheel look. and fit on a stock Laramie wheel

Anyone done this or can give me an idea? I stayed up reading threads all night but every truck has something different and I don't know what to base off of...

They say 275 / 60 R 20

Your wheel rim width should be on a sticker on your driver door (not the sticker on your door jamb). I've been told I could go up to 295 60 20 with stock height and rims but I think that would be a bit snug. For 12 inch wide like a 305 you would need a rim with probably a 0 offset at least to push it out (stock is plus 19).

If you search offset calculator you can find a number of good ones that allow you to plug in your stock size and an optional size. It will give you the clearance to your fender, how much the new option affects distance to the knuckle on your upper control arm and allow you to play with the offset of the rim so you get a good idea how the offset and tire width interact. I know for 295 60 20 that my aftermarket rim +10 vs stock +19 keeps the same distance within 1/100 of an inch difference. I recall playing with 305 it had to be at least 0 for my comfort.

Also keep in mind when you push that tire out height " might be an issue if you also go taller without a lift or level. I have 2.1" level so not concerned at all. My bigger issue if I push it out is am I going to throw a bunch of crap up against my fenders from the road. Given how much gravel is on our roads in winter for at least 3 months, its a real concern for me. So then do I want to add on flares? A hard no for me. So again an offset calculator would be handy for me there. I'm probably ok with 1/2 inch max projection beyond the fender. More? I suspect I'm asking for bigger issues.

This is the calculator I use:

I'm running 305/50r20s on my 20x9s with no rubbing & no sticking out. With a 2/2 dropped crew cab.

Yep I posted in your thread yesterday, but yours are a radial/street tire. I want an AT or mild mud tire...Im looking to make my truck look like this

Or as close as I could get to this. Obviously he has to have big spacers on this thing because he has my same wheel but its sticking out like 3 inches81c0a37c5f9e3434b77e07c2747f9baa.jpg

The above looks like 2 to 2.5” wheel spacers with 35x12.5 on a 6” lift.
Good looking truck!

Ive researched this to death lol originally i wanted 20x9 aftermarket wheels and 305/55r20s. Came across 20x9.5s -6 offset, 1.25" out more then stock. Same as a 20x9 0 offset but ½" wider.
Now im looking at 275/65 or 305/55, i just dont know what to run! Love the fat tire look of a 305 but the 275 would prolly be the better riding tire.
If someone would offer a 285 or 295 in load range sl or xl id be all over those, so im stuck on these 2 sizes.
If you dont mind going with a load range E tire then id go 285/60 or 295/60 and a level. 285/60 should prolly fit with no level
And your wheels are 20x9..

Lot of options at LT275/65/20 but know you’re moving out of the cushy P rated tires. The small change in height and a touch more aggressive tread will change the look of your truck considerably.

if not planning to lift, I’d stick to the 275/65/20’s or 295/60/20’s (295’s will fit without hitting the knuckle).

do yourself a favor and look up tire specs from the manufactures, they list all the stuff you need to know. As far as width goes, as long as the tire specs out no more than 12.1” wide on your factory 20x9’s, they won’t rub the knuckle.

EDIT: top 3 sizes I would look at......

275/65/20
285/65/20
295/60/20

Check those out, what they measure might surprise you.

EDIT #2: getting bored so I’ll through this out there just in case you didn’t know, the factory 275/60/20’s are 32.8 or 32.9” tall(not bored enough to look them up again). In other words, the stockers are 33’s.

I’m running 275/60/20 Nitto ridge grapplers on my stock wheels with 2” hub wheel centric spacers and no lift. Although I have a warlock which has factory 1” lift.

You have the same wheels I do. They are 20x9.

The truck you want to look like, if i remember right, he had a level plus a 3 inch body lift . 35x12.50 tires and 1.75 or 2 inch spacers.

I just recently went through this same thing, didn't know thing about it, but I made notes throughout the process and took note of a few links that were very helpful. In case you might find it helpful, check out this thread. I'm pretty happy with the wheels and tires I got.

No many choices available, but check out 285/60R20 ... That’s what I ran before I lifted

Well thanks for the responses.

I checked. My door sticker and it looks like I have 20 x 9 wheels.

On discount tire's site the 2 steps up from 275/60x20 are

285/60 and 295/60

I used this tire calculator to compare 275/60 vs 295/60
de0de29bb7d5471748669c398292ecfe.jpg

It will be almost an inch bigger and wider. So this. Should not rub anything without me changing any thing or adding wheel spacers? Ive heard that spacers are a big no-no

I went with new wheels and tires. 20 inch Black Rhino wheels and stock size (275/60 20) Toyo AT II tires. New rims stick out a bit more (12mm?) which make the tire look slightly wider. Second picture is new wheels/tires, last pictures is stock set up

I like the look, though it does kick up more dirt on the back roads.

In hindsight I should have kept the stock wheels and tires as backup. I have had to use the temporary spare once and it worked fine, but a real spare would be better

Not getting new wheels. I am asking if anyone is running stock wheels and what will fit.
