I just now finished installing remote start in my 2017 2500HD Tradesman. Went to the dealer to get my sales code (pin#), after several deer in the headlight looks they finally gave it to me.


Now I have to do it on my wifes 2013 1500 express if I can find where to terminate the hood ajar switch wiring.

Just a heads up if you don't already know 2013-16 trucks are different and require the correct rf hub w/antenna and at this point requires the dealer to atleast program the rf hub

No I didn't know that .. Her truck has remote locks. . Any chance it might have the correct frhub?

Ram changed the rf hub in 2017+ truck's that have a built-in antenna and are capable of remote start by adding the sales code. They also basically use the same baseline keys just changed the skin on them for remote start equipped truck's so that's why for anyone adding remote start to 2017+ trucks it's real easy. Alphaobd developer is working on a fix so people with 2013-16 trucks can program new baseline rf hubs. He has been able to get the high line rf hubs to work or baseline to work but not both. He's working on that fix. Since more people are interested in adding push button start with the proximity features then just remote start he kept that available. So the install for the remote start is a bit more involved and will definitely require a trip to the dealer to have them install the rf hub and program the keys and add the sales code

What if I have my original rf hub (from my 2017) and the"keys" that were married to it... Can the whole set be installed in a 2015 and "just work" after the correct Alfa settings are made?

No, because the secret key information from that trucks pcm can’t be transferred to your hub. The rf hub is one of the only modules (that I can think of) that has to be a virgin when it gets installed.
