hey everyone.

I’m new to this forum and I’m happy to be here. I need some advice. I am looking at doing a swap in my truck. I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with a 4.7L V8 and I am looking to put a 5.7L Hemi. What are some thing I need to keep In mind. What’s a good company to get a Wiring harness and ECM? What are other things I need to keep in mind for the swap? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

I can't help you with the motor swap, but someone will chime in soon I'm sure. Lots of good info on the board so read away.

If I was going to do another 4.7 to 5.7 swap I would locate a 2007 model donor truck and get the PCM, the SKIM module w/ignition key(s), the ABS Module and the complete engine wiring harness.

I say get the PCM, ABS and SKIM modules to avoid having a VIN mismatch DTC set as well as having a no-start issue because of the SKIM mismatch.

If you locate a donor truck like this that doesn't have keys like from a salvage yard make sure you write down the VIN so you can get the SKIM pin to program a new set of keys to the new SKIM.

Get out the checkbook, it'd probably be cheaper (and better) in the long run just to sell your truck and buy the one you want. Unless you do the swap yourself, big bucks, and still might be cheaper without the headaches a swap will bring. My daughter is 27 too, I'd be tickled pink if she asked these kind of questions, kudos to you. lol

Trade trucks or talk to Hotwireauto unless you have the ability to grab everything and the knowledge to make it work (Fast69 always forgets not everyone is a dealer mech lol)
