Since my smoked LED tails crapped out, I have my OEM tails back on with the Velcro covers.
Went to get an inspection today and had to take the covers off for that.

I actually kinda liked the look of the OEM tails vs the blacked out covers, but not 100% convinced to leave them off.

What do you think?

Spray tint, mask off the reverse light and do a couple thin coats to just slightly tint them!! VHT tint is what i used on my last truck.

I personally like the contrast that the red taillight has against the dark truck. That's just my opinion and they're from what I hear like assholes, everyone has one...

Not a fan of the covers. People can steal them or you could loose one. If you want to stick with the red why not go with the LED red ones?

Hmmmm.... Decisions decisions... I've always had smoked tail lights and when I had them off today and the guy drove my truck it didn't look bad haha, I guess it was just different that usual

I do want LED tails again tho

I've never been a fan of tinting the lens. If anything I would say black housing with clear lens. People drive stupid as it is and it would suck to get rear ended because the tail light wasn't bright enough. BUT that's just my own person pet peeve I have with them.

Ive had those exact tail lights with the smoked lens for almost 2 years now and no issues at all. They fit very well and no canbus issues

Well I went ahead and took the covers off.
I do always worry about whether or not people will see my brake lights during the day.

It looks weird to me because I've always had smoked lights, but eventually I'll get some LED tails like what I used to have or something else.

Used to have these until they stopped working:

Here's what it looks like now:

Hey, I guess it's cool to mix things up a bit lol.
Just wanted to share :D

I think it looks good both ways.

Better smoked but since you can....why not rock both styles. Off for a few days and when you go out on the town or want a different look put them back on.

I really like the stock 02-05 lights IMO with just minimal tint on them.

In most states it is illegal to install the smoked covers. You might want to check your local laws too see what they say before installing the covers. There are better ways to make your truck look better without the ugly covers. New LeD taillights will make it look much better. I have these on my black truck: Anzo® 311123 - Dodge Ram 2007-2008 Black LED Tail Lights

They are EXTREMELY bright and made my truck look even better.

Save some coins and buy some smoked LED's. That's what I would do. Really like this truck btw! I had one kinda similar just not as nice as urs

if I were you, IMO a subtle change looks the best to me. get a like 10% tinted film so it is light enogh to see the red, but changes the color into a nice deep red look. this is what I am going to do since I have a silver truck. just make it a subtle tint
