Greetings. I am new to this forum and to Ram trucks. Please forgive my ignorance on specifics.
I placed an order for my Ram 1500 Bighorn while in Afghanistan with my local dealer. They waited until I was one month from returning home before placing the order. As a result, instead of getting the 2013 I originally ordered, I received a 2014 year model. You're think "nice" right? Well not so much. The sales manager left off the RVC and the park sensors from the order. So my truck did not have it on it and the dealer only offered to "swap" trucks for one they had on the lot with it, but it was not the color I wanted. My brother-in-law actually purchased that truck. Long story short, I didn't get the exact truck I wanted and ordered.
I worked with the parts department and scheduled for the tailgate mounted camera (Part # 82211184) to be installed. They had my truck for 6 hours and did not get the camera installed. I was told that the media center I have is "too complex" for the camera. I contacted Chrysler Corp and was informed that if it wasn't installed at the factory, it couldn't be installed.
So my question it, has anyone else ran into an issue like this? Has anyone been able to install/activate a RVC in the media center on a 2014? If I am running into this with just a backup camera, what if I want to add anything else like the integrated trailer brake or subwoofer etc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
