Tailgate lock

Whats involved if i want the tailgate to lock and unlock through the remote like the rest of the truck. If u can lead me in the direction of what i need to buy and do, or if i need to hire someone would be appreciated.

I have one, got it from the Dodge dealership. Not sure what years it applies to. I'll check.

What did u pay for it? It was just a wiring harness?

$120. It's a long wiring harness to go from the tailgate to fuse box, and mechanical pieces to go onto the actual tail gate handle lock to make the lock functional with the key.

BTW: I'm not using it, as I don't have a lock on my tail gate. It is for sale if wanted.

It comes with complete instructions, and nowhere on the instructions, or the package, does it specify a year.

The write up i read sounded like a pain. Did u do the install yourself? What was cost if u dont mind me asking

I bought it for $120, and never installed it, because they gave me the wrong thing completely. It's just been sitting in my garage, and I would sell it if you want it. The instructions actually seem pretty simple, basically, you attach the supplied arm to the locking mechanism, plug in the first side of the wiring harness, run the harness to the fuse box, splice two wires, done.

I'm looking to put a lock period on my tailgate. Can only find the electric one. Ill probably go that route anyways.

I got the bully non electrical one on my truck. No issues here. An electrical one would be pretty slick.

Actuator

Simple install, pretty straight forward. You rivet the actuator to the supplied bracket run the harness and tap into lock/unlock wires beneath the TIPM on rear door harness.

I laugh at myself when I lock my tailgate while looking at my soft bed cover! Like locking a convertible, how true the saying "Locks are for honest people" LOL
