I have been having a problem with the tailgate on my 2013 Ram 1500 tradesman. It started moving to the left when looking from the back of the truck and became hard to open. I found that the bushing on the lower right of the tailgate rod was becoming worn. I replaced it and all was well. Now it is happening again but the bushing looks fine. I took the rod out and noticed that the other end of the rod is getting worn. I have been trying to find a part number for the rod but the only part numbers I found are for the rods that have to do with the locking mechanism. If you could help me with the part number I need it would be great. It is the rod at the bottom of the tailgate. THANKS!

Tailgate hinge? Any picture of this “rod” as I’m not entirely sure what you are talking about

I would think its the rod inside the tailgate that goes from the handle to latch.

Yes it is the hinge. It goes inside the tailgate at the bottom, it goes all they way across. The tailgate pivots on this rod. I do not have a picture though.

I don’t know anything about it going all the way through. That would be news to me. Usually it’s just 2 pins on either end with a cup that it sits in

The torsion rod at the bottom of the tailgate is not replaceable, you would need to get a new or used replacement tailgate.
