talked to a dealer tech about swapping clusters, this is what he said.

So as many of you already know that if you take a cluster from a junkyard on this generation of ram, the cluster cannot be reprogrammed by a shop to read the correct mileage but he did tell me that when they place an order for a new one or reman unit, they tell the company what the mileage is on the truck so that when it is received, it is correct. Also he told me that for the state of az, that if I was to swap out clusters from another truck and the mileage didn't match that I would have to claim box c on my title and registration stating that the shown mileage is not the correct reading to keep everything legal.

So with that being said what are some optional upgrades for my 09. From what I have read only up to 2012 can be used due to a change on wiring harness for 2013. I hate the look of my plain looking cluster in my 09 sport.

Correct you can only use one out of a 09-12 truck. However, I was under the impression that most on here get clusters with more miles than they have currently. Then they wait until the mileage matches (or close enough) and swap the clusters. I don't believe it will affect anything. I would just say stay as close as possible and not swap a cluster that reads 20k miles into a truck with 50k miles...

It is only a direct bolt in with 2013+ models.

I think he might be talking about the 2009-2012 4 gauges.

The ones that come in the express. They only have the 4 gauges with just a digital odometer.

The rest look like OutlawTrucker orange gauges. Well except not orange..lol

With that said, I'm not sure if they will swap out. See if your's has two plugs.
Basing off the 2013+ gauges going on here. You would think they would.

Hate to revive an old thread, but I have a 2011 Express and want the upgraded guages. Would they be simple plug and play and would all the EVIC features function properly? I am trying to find someone that has done this and can verify fitment and operation before I purchase one. Thanks!
