TCM programming

Have a faulty TCM ordered new one from dealer, they want $200 to program it. Is it basically just writing your vin # to the new one? 2013 ram 4500 6.7 cummins.

The new TCM may not have any programming in it at all. When the dealership flashes a control module the software and shift maps are updated to the latest available.

Picking up new TCM from dealer in the AM will ask one of the service techs about it because my problem is the truck is not drivable to bring to dealership for them to program it.

For anyone interested the TCM is located on drivers side under dash up and to the left of brake pedal. This is on a 2013 ram 4500 6.7 cummins AISIN Trans. If you google as i did it will say that it is built in to the ECM on side of block, NOT TRUE!! Part # for this one is 05150771AG feel free to look it up. Only trucks with the 68RFE trans will the TCM be inside the ECM located on side of engine block.
