Would anyone be interested in a thread dedicated to just the camping destinations? Pics, reviews, fun things to do? I thought it would be a neat idea to see what all is around us and maybe promote some of the destinations you enjoy!

I would be in. My family loves to camp. Couple weeks we are going to Yosemite for a few days. Maybe include info on wheeling areas near camp. (And maybe some truck trails for those of us that didn't opt for 4x4)

Yeah, things like that. Good fishing holes near camp, stuff that may make us or others add that destination to our lists. I would love to see some pictures and reviews or thoughts from other members from places they've stayed!

Sweet- if a mod is reading this, is it worth a category or sticky? I have seen other forums with this sticky and it seems popular.

First Stop- Cypress Hills Sask Side

I'll start it up. These are my two favourite local haunts. A few pics are new, a few are from the last year or two.

Cypress Hills

A few minutes south of the Number 1 highway just by the Alberta border. My absolute FAVOURITE for a relaxing getaway close to home. Tons of sites, lots of activities for the kids and grown ups (I quite enjoyed the Haunted Trails walk). There is OK fishing just south off Cypress Lake- better if you have a boat. Pike and Walleye seem to be the catch down there. They have a Dark Sky Preserve and there is a walk in observatory- we actually made a point of making sure one of our stays was during the Perseid Meteor Shower- all I can say is WOW! It is the highest elevation in Saskatchewan, and it is actually higher above sea level than many of the mountain passes in BC. The best campgrounds in the park we have stayed at- definitely Warlodge and Lodge Pole. Lodge Pole is a bit tight quarters, but they are all pull through sites and it has a beautiful tree canopy. The attached photos are in Warlodge. Meadows is an ok campground in the fall because it is cooler out, so you aren't scorching. There are no "full service" sites here. Electric and Non, that's it. Bathrooms and showers are well placed, clean and open 24/7. They have winter camping (translated to FREE) and during the season the sites are reasonable although sometimes a bit difficult to get for extended stays. Tons of wildlife (moose often grazing right through the campgrounds) and if you are into history- Fort Walsh Historical Site is only a jog away.

Saskatchewan Landing

This is only 45 minutes North of Swift Current, so it's incredibly convenient. The sites are a bit more open and "built" than some parks, but that is the idea. It is decently treed and you can literally throw a rock from your site to the South Saskatchewan River which has some spectacular fresh water sport fishing. Walley, Pike, Trout, Whitefish, Sturgeon, Sauger, Catfish... list goes on. There are two main beaches (campground beach and the main beach) which are clean and have a well treed, well shaded "upper deck" for mom and dad to sit at and to enjoy picnics etc. There are a couple little stores in the park as well. Just north of the Landing is the Clearwater Drive In (those are RARE these days) and it's about a 20 minute drive to go enjoy a drive in movie in the evening.

We turned these three beasts into some seriously delicious smoked fish... did I mention the fishing was off the chain? Caught these three slough sharks in a little inlet with 5 feet of water just with a simple shore cast rubber lure in the early morning. They love to come into the mouth of the inlet in the morning to warm up and snipe the little 1st years for a quick snack. Most people turn their nose up at these guys, but if you prep them right, they are a spectacular meal! At night, the walley fishing off shore is awesome since the medium size and big ones like to move into shore to eat.

It would be more work, but should we have 4-5 sub forums by geographical location? Say, Pac NW, SW, Mid West, SE, NE? Sticky's tend to become behemoth threads with hundreds of pages that end up over looked.

No wheeling in Yosemite lol.. I live on the east side of Yosemite, Great place to eat just before u head up tioga pass"it's a Mobil mart" but the food is on par with a 4 star restraunt- tons of wheeling on the east side of the Sierra"s though .. few old mining towns/ camps-- some hot springs/ tubs and tons of great fishing. Lakes are all real low right now due to drought and it's rather smokey due to fires. I just went through Yosemite to head over to the sanjaqune valley a few weeks ago and traffic in the park was a god dam nightmare.

I'll play also, Would like to get other ideas of places to go and parts of the country we can't get to yet (7 more years and counting). Mostly mountains, lakes, rivers, and historical sites for me. We do Gettysburg and the Delaware Water Gap every year, going to Williamsburg, Va. and then DC in a couple of weeks.

Found a truck trail to the east of the valley to go check out. Trumbull peak, going to check out an old wildfire lookout. Doesn't look like more than a access road but should be enough for my 2wd.

White River seasonal camping in Neshkoro, WI. Great little lake to fish, public land and atv trails everywhere. Super quiet and super friendly. $25/night elec/water and zero cell coverage. Damn near perfect.

Galveston State Park from a few weeks ago. 20 bucks for the night with 50 amp hookups and water. no cable or sewage but that didn't really bother us. brought the pup with us and had a blast, stayed right on the bay

FYI for those traveling to and fro: Cabela's (regardless of how you view their customer service) has overnight rv parking, fresh h2o and dump stations. Just call ahead or give yer info to the store mngr. Dump's $5 or free with in-store purchase. Beats the hell out of a truck stop or one nighter at a shady rv park.

Camping trip to the Mogollon Rim (Woods Canyon Lake)

Took my 2014 Ram on it's first excursion into the wild and put it to work. Everything was great! Nothing exciting to note with the truck as it went as expected. Here are some pics :)
