My 2026 Ram Laramie with the Hemi engine and 1170 miles gave me a dashboard alert "engine hot".
The needle was pinned on H. Pulled over on side of freeway, i had been driving for about 30 minutes. Popped hood and no steam coming out and anti freeze dipstick showed reservoir was full.
Did not think at that time to check actual engine temp on screen. Waited 5 minutes, restarted and needle right back to H.
Waited another 5 , restarted and needle back to normal location about middle of gauge.
Continued on my was way another 25 minutes and needle stayed in the middle.
At my destination a friend said i should bring up the real Temperature on the screen and it showed 210. Goggled normal run temp and it said 205-230.
45 minute drive home with real time temp on screen never went over 214.
A friends auto shop plugged in his reader and showed no codes.
Opinion was either a suck thermostat ( not likely) or sensor acting up or electrical computer type glitch , maybe saw something it did not like and sent the needle to H .
I wish i would have thought to look at actual live temp when it was pinned on H. Big question is, has anyone had a false too hot reading?
