You can do it yourself with plastic dip. I did mine many months ago and have had no issues at all.

Make sure you apply a white base coat first.

Engine covers are hard to paint. You can clean them with simple green and a sponge.

Then let sit in the sun for a bit to air day and get all the textured areas dry.

I've painted these with automotive paint / clear etc.. the prep is the key with that. Plastic prep spray and some 3M red scotch pads. 4 hours prep for 20 mins of painting! ;(

I agree----When painting, preparation is everything!!! Anytime you pick up a paint can, paint brush or sprayer good prep is your friend. You just can't cover **** up-you'll be able to tell, and most other people will too. It's a pain in the ass, but well worth the trouble in the end.

I have thought about painting my cover, problem is it seems like once you do one piece you have to do them all....fuse box cover, airbox cover etc.

I’ve heard painting the cover is good for 5 extra hp. I removed mine and gained an extra 10hp:Caffeine:

Plasti dip or paint?

Rustoleum Plastic Primer, then Krylon Fusion spray paint with Duplicolor clear coat over top. The only drawback on the stuff s the 7 day cure time on the Fusion.

Had seen where someone had painted their engine cover, awhile back. Love the looks of it and I have a friend with a body shop so can get it done fairly cheap and get it painted and cleared. Looking at the Red with Black center and Red letters.

Uh, don't give him your engine cover!

Give him your engine cover, fuse box cover, air breather cover and the top plastic piece that goes over your radiator too.

If he is a really, really good firend, then yank off your underhood insualtion and tell him you want

345 Cu In or 5.7L V-8 on top line
Ram Head Logo middle section
H E M I in the third line.

That way, when you lift the hood, not only will teh engine bay impress, but so too wll the lifted hood.

Oh yeah, Show us pics.

PS:

If he actually does all that, tell him you have some friends who will gladly ship their crap to him and you would really appreciate it if he would their stuff too.

Just in case . . .
