My buddy and I came up with this plan, and I'd like some input. We both ride 4 wheelers and side by sides, and we enjoy going to ATV parks and camping out. He just bought a 32 ft camper, and we were trying to keep from having to take three vehicles. Together, we have two Polaris Rangers and three 4 wheelers (Grizzly 700, Scrambler 850 and Outlander 800).
He told me he would buy a trailer if I'd pull it. What he's looking at is a 36 to 40 ft trailer like maybe a car hauler. What we had in mind was a Gooseneck hitch in my truck, some airbags and a trailer brake controller. I just keep thinking it's going to be too heavy.
I know a Gooseneck in a 1500 is generally frowned upon, but I'm not talking about pulling anything heavier than those machines listed. My concern is the trailer weight itself. Aren't these types of trailers pretty heavy by themselves?
Are there trailers that would be suited for this and still pretty light?

I would look into a deck over. Much cheaper. I have a 26 we pull that fits 7 quads. It weighs 2650 dry.

They can get weighty and that is a LONG ass to have wagging out behind you. I'd be willing to bet you only tried it once ;)

Sounds like a good reason to upgrade to a diesel.

I'd never pull a gooseneck with a 1500...just IMO.

We are looking at those as well. The problem is the two Rangers. cant sit them sideways on there like you can a 4 wheeler.

As for upgrading to a diesel, I WISH! Well, not really. I'd absolutely love to have a crew CTD with a nice lift and big tires, but my truck has 27k miles on it, is just about paid off and I've just about got it the way I want it. To start all over with the mods would not make a whole lot of sense, plus, the banker would likely slit my throat while I was sleeping.

The ATVs fit 2 side by side on the deck. As far as the length towing it is not that bad at all. It primarily holds my mud truck. I was averaging 12/13 mpg with about 7500 trailer weight.
