So I am wanting to get some HIDs for my truck. I currently have spider ccfl halo projection lights. The lights have an adapter that made the bulb go from the 9004 to 9005. It also says on the bulb its 12v and 65w. So now I am unsure as to get the 35w or 55w HIDs. I don't know if i get the 35w if it will not be as bright or if the 55w will be blinding or what works. My town is uptight about everything so i already decided to keep my bulb color whiter and get 5000k or maybe 4500k but i hear there is not much of a difference. Anyways what do you guys think because i am confused on what to get.

Can always put a 9005 kit in them.......but the projectors really arent' designed for HIDs. They will physically work.....but don't expect the best light output from them. I don't know if I would do a 55W kit in a halogen one either............35W should do it.

I thought the projectors were designed for HID. Everything i have been reading so far has been saying that without projectors HIDs shine all over and blind everyone coming at you. Then it says 35w kits put out up to 3000 lumens and 55w kit gives 40% more up to 48000 lumens. I have clear lenses too so that will help. Its just right now with what i have they are not very bright and one of my friends just put a 35w kit of the 10000k on his mustang and they are really bright but also really blue and he has stock lights with a nice cover of yellow crud on them. So I was just wondering what my truck can even handle or if the 35w wont be as bright as the 65w i have in there now because with his car right now his hid lights are brighter than my aftermarket. I remember there even being an HID kit option when I bought my lights but didnt get it at the time. You have HIDs on your truck or know anyone who does?

oh I have HIDs on my truck.........and have sold hundreds of HID kits / projector retrofits to customers.

Here's the deal..........you have a set of aftermarket lights with projectors that were designed for HALOGENs. Not HIDs. They are different, and you can put HIDs in them.........but don't expect them to have the absolute best output.

HIDs in projectors will keep the light from scattering. HIDs in a stock light, you will have some light scatter.

And.......you can't compare wattage output on a halogen vs HID setup. a 35W HID setup will be approx 3x the output of your standard halogen bulb.

Your friend with the 10Ks? Go kick him in the nuts please. 10K is very blue.........anything over 6 is really just getting too blue. The higher the number the LESS light output. Whats the point of putting these in if they are going to have less output?

02153 is the hid guy. If you have any questions about lights... He knows it. What he says is right haha. He builds projector headlights, he sells all HIDs and knows what's up! I would trust anything he says, he's not going to ******** you into buying something from him either, :D

haha exactly which is what im trying to do is just get way more light output. So what do I have to do to make my lights work with HIDs or is it not possible and i have to get new lights too. Or just put the hid in them anyways but just wont get the maximum output out of them

You can run the hids in there, will it work sure, will it look as good as a projector made for hids with a good hid kit prolly not, other thing you have to worry about is some of those dinky after market ones with projector hids, the lens are cheap and actually will melt from the heat.

Either way with hids they will be brighter, just not as bright as with a good projector.

In my case I'm running the hids with oem housing and planning on running morimoto projectors later on. I have them pointed down and check and recheck my lighting and have yet to be flashed once for my lights blinding.

no problem.

I can get you a set as well. $100 shipped on a set that will come with a lifetime warranty, comes with bulbs, ballasts and wiring harness.

(but at 4300K, little yellow tinge to them). 5K would be a little higher as they are in my Digital line......would run $140.

alright ill think about it. I have to pay off some medical bills first before I get anything. Have to fix my arm that got crushed by a car due to a jack failure. Also one last question. I was looking at how you install them and you have to connect the hid connector to the oem connector or am i reading something wrong. My OEM is 9004 and its plugged in to the adapter for my lights now. Then the bulb in it now is a 9005. So would i order 9004 or 9005

i thought i would just have to unplug the bulb in there now and pop on the hid then do all the rest but the instructions look like you put the hid into the oem but then im confused if that would still give power to the ccfl and halos because if i unplug that there is no power to the light and if i just plug the hid into it then ill only have the hid light
