Now that I've retired and we downsized from a 15 acre working farm to a smaller house on 1 acre, my 2500 is starting to seem like overkill for the way I use it. With used car prices reportedly being high right now, I'm thinking if I can get close to $28K for my current truck, that puts me within range of ordering a '21 RAM Classic Tradesman 4x4 that will get better mileage, ride smoother and sit lower to the ground. I'm no longer hauling heavy loads, so the reduced payload isn't an issue.
KBB says upper end for my '15 2500 standard cab longbed Tradesman (63K miles) is $24K, but I've dressed it up and it has a gooseneck hitch, front receiver and front camera, aftermarket CarPlay head unit, wheels & almost-new tires). I'm hoping a private party sale might net enough over that to put me in range of the new truck (I need the gap to be around $8K so I can pay cash).
Anyone have any recent experiences selling their 5-6 year-old truck? How did you do on price?
