Are you supposed to paint that? Does it mess with the heat transfer?

Yes it is...but you gotta be careful.

I'd clean it real good with an aluminum safe degreaser, rise it well and make sure get all the bugs out. Straighten the bent fins with a fin tool (yes they make such a thing) and paint it with a couple thin coats of engine paint.

Too much paint can make your A/C work harder beacuse it act as an insulater. BTW...its already been painted or powdercoated. Aluminum corrodes real quick when expose to salty or moist air.

Here's a pic of a fin straightener...you can buy these at harbor frieght or any good tool supply.

I wouldn't paint it. Paint is an insulator (so to speak) and will make your truck work harder to breath and make the air going in warmer than it already is

Edit: Nevermind that's your ac not your radiator. But it will still make your compressor work harder, like stated above

hmmm okay thanks guys, a fin straightener...LOL what a tool :p

maybe the better option would be to put a tranny cooler in front of it and paint that with a few light coats. I dont really want to paint the whole thing, just put a stencil/design on it lol

Just mount you grill so that it doesn't open with hood. Then you never have to worry about it. That's what I did when I showed my '98 Ram.

i like the stencil idea, put a red ram logo on it, that would match the truck or color theme of red and black. Or maybe even a nice blue Mopar M on it.

He's got a big red mopar m for his underhood pad. Maybe "The codes" painted on like his sig. Then you can spend your time explaining that to everyone Cody....so it's an attention getter!

are you referring to the Colorado shooting?

I just don't know what's wrong with people anymore. it's insanity.

Yeah I am...some people get to where they can't differentiate reality from fiction. Insane...yes, I'm one to caution people on it.
