So I am transitioning from my 2014 Ram to a new 2019 model.

Ive had my Moe's 87mm TB for about 4 years or so. I took it off my old truck and it will fit the new truck, but Im a little torn on installing the 4 year old unit on the brand new truck.

Should I just clean it up and run it till it don't work, or is there an advantage to going with a brand new one and just selling the old one to recoup a few bucks.

Its mostly electronics so I assume if it works it works, but something about taking a part with 60k miles and 4 years of use and putting it on the brand new truck makes me scratch my head.

Thanks!

There's actually not much inside the TB except a motor, some gears, and a TPS. From what I've read the Mopar TBs are pretty reliable so I would say if it takes the same plug I'd put it on the 19.

Did you have a catch can on your old truck? If not, or really even if you did I'd check to see if the throttle body needs to be cleaned. If so, clean it up and install it. Without other bolt on mods the performance difference is going to be minimal.

Sparky I get what you are thinking/considering. Just not sure why you want to do that. From what I have read, not going to get much benefit with out some type of additional air mod. I think Hemi is right. I did not need to replace my TB on my 03 5.7 until I had 230k miles. My tech told me the same thing. The MOPAR TB are well designed and quality parts. Also, would changing the TB on your new truck impact the warranty. Fitz

Thanks for the feedback. I installed the 87mm TB, Leg Maker Mid Pipe, AEM Dry Filter and Catch Can on my 2014 all at the same time about 4ish years ago, when the truck still pretty much new.

Im moving up to the 2019 now and the LMI mid pipe wont work, but the catch can and TB will. So I would start with those but then certainly look to add some sort of modified intake.

I did a lot of research when I went with the mid-pipe and the consensus at the time was the OEM air box setup was actually pretty decent and more of CAI than most. The weak spot was the mid pipe with the accordian flex tube that messed up the air flow. The LMI is larger diameter and smooth carbon fiber to improve air flow.

I always felt like I noticed a small improvement but it was tough to say for sure. However, i can tell you now that i have removed all that stuff driving back as stock it feels VERY sluggish, so I have to think it was a nice combination.

I appreciate all the feedback and I will clean up the TB and install on the new ram when i get it.

By the way, any suggestions on what to use to clean it?

Can't go wrong with CRC TB cleaner.
