Hey all,

Just installed a set of Timbrens in the back yesterday to help the squat when hauling 1000+ lbs.
( always 400 lbs with the ramboxes and a quad and trailer )
Unloaded test run was a success.
Loaded test run will happen next week end ( 17-18 )
I'm not convince it's the best way to go since they're gonna be articulation lost but I'll try anyway.

And for the Dampers, just wow.
Installed them a couple of weeks ago and I can feel a good difference.
I had trouble with front wheel wobble when going 90 KPH ( 55 MPH ) with a tongue weight slightly turning left.
( this happens since a tire rotation so I guess I should rebalance the tires )
No more wobbles and steering is more solid/stable.

I'm posting this since there's not many Powerwagons with Timbren and why not include the dampers.

My brother had timbrens on his last truck. I don’t think he would use them again. He always had weight in the bed of the truck and frequently towed a heavy trailer so his truck was always on them. When you’re down in them the truck rides real ruff since you’re basically riding on the axels. If you don’t tow much it will probably won’t be too bad for you. They were just a bad choice for him and the way he used his truck.

I like your dampers I have them to but I used a synergy steering links the billstien mounting bracket won't fit around the link.you have to use synergy bracket and the eyes sleeves have to be ground down to fit in the bracket. grinding on a 200$ shock is not what I call good but the teck at 4wheel parts said thats how they would do it.

Could the drivers side steering dampener be installed on the top side of the other shock for better clearance?

Why I am not surprised that you grinded a 200$ damper lol!

Sometimes you have to make it happen

Gotchya. This pic you posted just makes it look like its hanging way down, but its probably not as bad as it looks i guess. But, seems like at the red arrow you could mount the drivers side shock on the top, and spin the mount on the bar to the top as well...but like you say, might be clearance issues.

The dampers are pretty much straight. That pic made them look really crooked.

Well, now you make me want to try it the other way.
I might get to it next week. 30 min work and some testing.

I'll keep you posted

is this the ford forums? :Big Laugh: all those guys have to use dual stabilizers. i think theyre even on back order.

sounds to me like your just covering up another problem. factory alignment is just good enough to get these trucks out the door. i would get that checked and go from there

Yep!
Those dual really mask well.
Alignment and tire balance at next shop time.

I had a 2015 JK that started to wobble. Well the damper was shot at only 15-20K so I replaced the PW's damper right away.

I may trade soon for a Ford though.
Here in Québec, we are still in lockdown.
No school, no restaurants, 8pm curfew...
Expect for Ford owners.
They are exempt from lockdown.
It's to revive the towing industry.

the reason I use dual stabilizers is because I don't want problems away from home or in the bush with the missus. I don't think she would like the walk home.. also I didn't like the mfgs solution to the safetyrecall on the adjuster in the steering so replaced all that crap serviceable end links is only part of it.if it looks like that the one stabilizer is on an angle its because it is it has to be that way for clearance

the stabilizer isnt glue holding the front end together. if it got bent or broken just remove it and carry on about your way. truck would be fine until you got a replacement

It works well!
Here's a partial review.

I'll split this in 3 categories.

Empty/low load ( 400 lbs in my case ):
Timbrens at 1" from axle

Rides as usual but the rear taps when hitting deep long holes or very harsh road bumps.
So a somewhat harsher ride at city speed with lunar surfaced roads.
Can't feel them highway.

Mid load ( 400 lbs + 5-600 lbs tongue ):
Timbrens on the axle

Little harsher ride in city but way more stable. No more sway.
A dream at county road/highway speeds.
Trucks squats a inch like before but stays right there.

High load ( 1200 lbs + 500 lbs tongue )

This is what I installed them for.
Will test this week-end and report back.

Despite loosing suspension travel, I'm very happy with the Timbrens.
I use the PW more as a work truck and wheel seriously a couple times a year.
Guess I'll just unscrew them before wheeling.

Installation was not straightforward.
I did not reused the bump stop spacers from the PW and had to supply 4x 3/8 bolts to fix the Timbren brackets.
( supposed to re-use factory bolts but they're too long and meet the frame)

Also, the passenger side braket was a pain because of the track bar.
Managed it with a 3" long ratchet 9/16 wrench.

Ps: love the Pulsar

Nice, sounds like a sweet set up, I contacted Thuren and they are fabricating a new offering with sumo springs. I’m going to get pair.

it’s a neat setup because you can remove the sumo spring in 30 seconds when no load is present, and same with install 30 seconds. I haven’t seen pics yet but sounds cool!
