This has probably already been discussed somewhere but I didnt feel like playing detective looking for it so figured I'd make a new thread. Does anyone have a estimate for how much caming my 5.7 would be? Along with what would be the best brand and size. Not too sure how true it is but I was told It would get rid of hemi tap but don't quote me on it

All around when i was shopping a few years back was about $2500 all in, cam, lifters, springs, install, and a tune. I couldnt justify it for the gains, a supercharger is only double that money and 4x the HP gain.

What year is your RAM?

I did this job on my old RAM I had before this one. Got a used cam for $150, 6.1 push rods, 6.1 springs and fluids. All in it cost me about $400 since I did the labor myself. Obviously if you go with a new cam or have someone do the install for you, you'll pay more.

Camming a 3rd gen has been done to death. Not hard to find. You're in luck though, you have arguably the best all around year for custom tuning. If you're doing this yourself it'll be cheaper. If you need to hire it out that will run the price up in labor. Instead of the flood of opinions you're going to get, email or call some of the various vendors like Inertia, HHP, MMX, etc; tell them what your combo (and future combo if applicable) and intended use are and they will recommend one for you.

Yep, you have the ideal truck year (05 pcm) to tune. As with any build you need to establish a goal for the truck and budget. Then research sources for parts and labor. If not a daily driver and you can do the work yourself it will be cheaper. Once you determine what is being done and by who then double the budget. Its a lot of fun building or modifying your own truck.

Buying new parts will run around $1000. Close estimates, new cam will run $400-$600 depending on the vendor. You’ll need to upgrade the valve springs and pushrods. 6.1 stock Hemi springs and rods will work for up to about a .560 lift cam. Springs are $250-$300ish depending on what you find. Upgrading or replacing the oil pump, timing set and lifters is a good idea. Fluids, gaskets, headbolts, tuner, and tuning will keep adding to the cost
