Quick and Dirty, did all 4 corners with the Z36 kit at 17K (back on 2019) due to front brake noise and rear warped rotors.

Now at 74K and I did a pad slap back in fall of 23' @ 62k.

Yes, I know I should not have pad slapped BUT the front inners were almost to the backing plate and I needed to do something quick.
The inside front rotors had a mild rust lip that I ignored and now I currently have a 3/4" rust ring from the outside lip in so there is limited pad contact and if I really hit the brakes I get burning pad smell.

So I narrowed it down to 2 options, I will not be doing drill/slotted again!

Powerstop Evolution plain face rotors with Z36 pads (I really like these pads, no dust and great feel)

OR

Wagner Rotors and OEx ceramic pads (does not look like they make rears in ceramic?)

Looking for feedback/thoughts

What's your reasoning for not wanting to do a slotted rotor again ?

No need for them in my application, I am not racing and I don't tow heavy regularly.
I.E. the additional (minimal) heat dissipation from the cross drilled nor the extra gas removal from the slots do me any good other than they looked cool at the time.

Additionally what I am seeing after 5.5 years in the salt belt is discouraging rust wise.
The rotors are really rusted and the slots have filled in with rust in some spots.

Other than looks or lots of heavy towing there is no need for drilled/slotted rotors vs solid face for me.

I'd also consider doing a complete flush and fill of your brake fluid, too.

Consider upgrading to either a high quality DOT4 or DOT5.1 fluid.

I assume you also bed in your brakes after installation as well.

thanks, if you don't mind me side tracking your thread a little...I need new brakes for my '17 2500, im in Michigan so similar weather patterns as you're seeing BUT I use my truck to plow with too

I was planning on buying a set of the powerstops, in your opinion, good idea or bad?

Thanks for the tip on flushing, I will be doing that as well.

Yes I did follow the supplied bedding procedure for the power stops as well.

I'm doing these on my supercharged truck when I need pads and rotors again. I'm on my 3rd set of powerstop and 2nd set of rotors

Those are racing brakes, not DD duty brakes being discussed in this thread.
As I said, I am not racing or towing heavy, thos would simply "look cool" on my truck for my application.

EBC orange or Red and R1 Rotors
The rotors look decent, I read that the EBC pads you listed dust a good amount and are intended for racing/aggressive driving.

My honest opinion right now is skip the drilled & slotted and go with plain face.
BUT
I have no actual feed back right now with the plain face rotors and Extreme (Z36) pads.

I am leaning towards this combo and will probable be buying them this weekend.

If you not looking for extra stopping power that the Orange or red give you. the EBC Green are a green choice too

*Update*

Order plain powerstop rotors and the extreme (Z36) pads. Contacted Powerstop and they said this combo is fine, they are actually working on offering a Z36 kit with plain rotors.

Basically this kit but as individual parts on Amazon, saved $40+/- over Rockauto

Will updated after install and break in.

Be sure to clean where all the hardware goes, and make sure the caliper pins are lubrcated well and they move in and out smoothly.
The one pad wearing more can be a sign that the caliper is not moving freely on the mount.

New brakes on, no noticeable difference from the drill & slotted other than brakes seems smoother.

BUT

It's not a fair comparison as the old rotors were ruff and I had a frozen caliper slide (which is odd because they were all fine when I did the pad slap)

Pics, judge for yourself as far as if drilled & slotted rotors are for you "long term" in the salt belt.

I just installed the powerstops on my 2500...on thing I liked WAY better about the OEMs were a couple of threaded holes in the rear discs, find the proper bolt and you got a build in puller

(Now, I know this hole was put there by an engineer and not by a mechanic, because if a mechanic has put it there, the thread would have matched the caliper retaining bolts...but no such luck)
