Hey everybody. I picked up some 2018 Sport wheel take offs. wheels and tires with 50 miles on them. I've put them on my 2012 1500. At the tire place, they're saying that they can't read or see the tire pressure sensors on the new wheels? Is there a compatibility issue there with 2018 sensors on a 2012 truck? I know I can swap my old sensors onto the new wheels - but I really liked the idea of getting (4) new pressure sensors too. What am I missing? Thanks in advance. Yes it's cold in Florida too. :)

There's been a couple frequency changes between your 12 and the 18's,you'll have to pick up a set of 2012 specific sensors .

They may not have sensors, the previous owner may have had them removed and installed in his new set

2012 uses a 433 mHz sensor and they are listed as being current up to 2017.

I can't find any reliable specs on a 2018 sensor.

Were the sensors in the takeoffs you mounted?

Did you drive the truck after they were mounted? Mine took a few miles before they registered on EVIC.

I'm going to drive it some more today. I drove it home last night and it didn't pick them up. The wheels were sold as having the sensors in them. If they're all 433mhz then I'm missing something. I wonder if having the old cladding wheels with old sensors in the bed had anything to do with it?

Atleast on my gmc I had to have them relearned. Discount tire did it for free. You may call them and check. I went from a 15 to a 15 so I knew all mine would work. I wouldn't be surprised if they are different. Just my .02

Sensors could be broken... best option is swap your old ones...

I read that from 2011-2013 they used a 433 sensor like 56029398AB (68241067AB is the latest rev I think). These are used in a wide variety of FCA brands. From 2014 to 2018 they used a 433 sensor like 68249197AA in RAMs and a few other FCA brands. 2014-2018 sensors are unlikely to work in a 2012 because of the protocol, not frequency. I'm not absolutely sure the 2018s are completely compatible with earlier trucks, for some of the other brands they are not.
