One of my tire pressure sensors went bad (assumed it was the battery, as it would work/not work on and off for a few weeks before just dying completely) and one of the back ones was starting to go in and out so I decided to just have all of them replaced. Got a quote from the dealer of about $900 (including tax) for all 4 which seemed nuts to me so I talked to the independent local shop that's done my tires for 30 years. The dealers said you had to use Dodge ones or they wouldn't program, local shop said they could use theirs and just program it. So $280 and 4 sensors later, everything seems to be just fine with the new sensors. Had to drive it about 10 miles before they registered - not sure why - but seem to be working just fine.
So this is just a PSA that if your sensors go bad, you can use non-factory ones. I check my own tire pressure regularly anyway, so I look at these things as just a way of avoiding looking at that yellow symbol on my dash
