Ok I have a question on what to do. Today I must have run over something on my 14 Ram laramie cc 1500 4x4. One tire started losing air fast. I took it to a local repair shop who repairs tires and wanted a patch repair which they do. Well after 20 min I was told my tire was junk. I guess it cut the cords and is un repairable. Now this is the second time with these tires in 27,000 miles I've needed to repair a tire with road debris. Maybe it's bad luck or is it the tire design? Anyhow my question is with 27,000 miles on my stock tires can I replace the bad one and be ok or will it throw things out of wack? My tires are half worn and in good shape for at least another 20,000 miles. I rotate them every 5000 miles. Repair place says putting 1 tire on will screw with the 4x4 system. Should I bite the bullet and get four new or replace the one. If I stick with the stock goodyear wrangler 20 in tire they are $775 and if I go to a general grabber they are $855. I like the way the stock tires handle but this is the second tire problem I've had with these tires. Any input would be appreciated.

I had 4 plugs in my LT general grabber at/3's in a year. Better tires may help, but when you run over stuff there's no guarantee. If your happy with SRA tires and they meet your requirements see if there's a replacement warranty available and get them again

bite the bullet and buy all four, imo. as your finding out, the stock tires suck. chances are you'll be replacing at least another one soon enough.

I'd get 4 new tires of a different make.

I'm curious, since you never stated it... what tires are on your truck now?

do you have a spare? If it is untouched, I'd use it, buy one more tire to match it, and put them on the same axle. That will buy you some time to research a better tire, and get the best deal on a new set.of tires.

The tires I have on the truck now are Goodyear Wrangler sr a tires. They have been a decent tire for me. 27,000 miles rotated every 5000 miles. About half worn. The spare is on the truck now and it's a 17 in truck doughnut! If I'm going to replace all 4 I want a decent all terrain tire. Any suggestions on something decent that won't make me go broke? I'm looking for a solid used one as well. Figured I would run these another 15,000 miles so a yr and a half or so. I have a hard time justifying $800 right now when I don't need all 4.

Put you do need all 4 !
Not a good idea to have one or 2 new on a 4x4. It's like having miss matched sizes. Go with 4 new LT tire's. The SRA's you have will wear faster now that the are 1/2 worn.
Or if you can't afford that maybe another member is upgrading and can make you a good offer.

Really, look at it like this..

You buy one, then 3, you're always going to be in that cycle.

You buy 2 - then you're always buying 2 tires here and there...

Just buy all 4, and get decent tires and be done with it and when it comes time for tires, you're replacing all 4.. not replacing one/two here every 1 year..
