Hi community!
I’m new to Ram world and just purchased a new 2019 Power Wagon, has about 5000 miles. It was used for auto shows and marketing by the dealer. The offer was too good to pass up.
Prior to this, I was a GM guy and had a 2014 2500 z71 which I had heavily modified for off roading. 4.56 gears, rear locker, winch, 3.5” lift, 35x12.5 ko2s, on board air compressor and so on. GM refuses to make a good 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton Off Road truck with a solid front axle and locker so came over to the Power Wagon Family.
I want to be more modest with this truck and maintain most of the factory stuff such as the rims and suspension but I would like to fit a bigger tire and be able to still mount a full sized spare under the rig. I plan to have a second full sized spare either in bed or on a swing but want to maintain the one under the rig.
Given I don’t want to change the suspension or impact the axle articulation, I want to use the stock 17x8 rims, I want a full size spare mounted under the rig, I do need the ability to fit snow chains, and I’d rather not trim unless very minor, what would be the tallest and widest tire I could fit?
I’ve been looking at 285/75r17 and they are pretty close to a 34x11.5. Could I get into the 315/70r17 range? Several tires in the 315 range can safely mount on 8” rims according to the manufactures.
Sorry for the text wall, any insight would be great!
