So I need to replace the crap Firestone tires and had a quick question on sizes. I don't see any issues but figured I would throw it out there to get some opinions.

Stock size is 285/60/20 which = 33.5" tires

there is only a small selection for this particular size. If I go to a little taller will I have any issues? I wouldn't think an 1/2 inch will make that much of a difference will it. there are so many more choices at the second size.

275/65/20 which = 34" tires

thank you for any input

I run the cooper atp"s in a 275/65/20.. I think .. not at my truck to double check size but I know they measure 34 inches- but ya u will have no problems clearing a 34" tire at stock ride height.

I run Yokohama 275/65R20's with no issue at all. They are 34.3" tall. Made a HUGE difference in the ride "softness" of the truck even when fully aired up. I actually haven't aired them down yet but will here in the future just to see how that affects the ride/mileage/wear.

You will not have any trouble but don't think you'll be happy in that size. I ran a set of KO2's in 275/65/20 and they always looked too narrow to me. A 295 or wider would help fill the wheel wells.

Have any of you noticed and loss in MPG's with the new tires. That is one thing I've been reading. Some of the tires are on the heavy side compared to stock. Now personally I'm not sure how much a couple pounds will effect it but I don't want to go down in mpg's....hahahaha

Not really - But my tires are by no means " aggressive" - I am sure a mud terrain may drop mpg a little.

I like em - for what I do they work good. Honestly I'm used to having a way more aggressive tire on a 1/2 Ton but I dont use this truck the same as my old one. I get a lot of "HWY" miles so if I can get 40-50k miles out of these I will be happy. And they are the 275/65/20"s

Yeah, those look tiny on there. Height wise even. Maybe 295/75 next go around?
