Michelin Defender is the best, money no object.
I would use tire rack to compare tires. You can look at the ratings. I used mine to look at Longevity and quiet ride, as I do a lot of highway driving. Money is an object with me, so I got Continental CrossContacts, and like them, but I think they have changed the name for some odd reason. Lately I noticed a set of BF Goodrichs that are rated highly.
But Michelin and Continental make the best tires, in my opinion, in most cases. I had Michelin Defenders several years ago, and it is a great tire. I have had Conti's on my last 3 cars, and loved them because of ride, quietness, and longevity.
